I bought a Bakcou electric bike this year. It’s pretty cool for hunting. I hunt a 1000 acre tract, so it allows me easy access to the far corners quietly. Plus I’m not wet with perspiration when I arrive at my stand. I am a cyclist, so riding it comes easily as far as handling. I have a clip on red light so I feel I can get places way more quickly and quietly, and leave less scent. Plus it’s way easier to transport than my ATV. I like to walk, but riding my bike in and out sure is easier and quicker. It’s super powerful, climbs any hill, and has a 40 mile range. Since it has a throttle, I don’t really even have to pedal much, so it’s definitely a lazy way to get around.
In the right place I think It's a great idea. Stealth, good, noise, not as good. I used to public hunt a place and bicycles were allowed. Never could get clarification if they were allowed on the place I was hunting.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.
I bought electric bike before the 2020 season cause of broke my foot moving a tripod, dang tripod fell on it. Used it a lot last year. Got a late start ready for season this year, wife had major hand surgery and then couldn’t find my charger. I must have put it up somewhere so I could remember where I put it. Took a couple of days to get one off Amazon. Once it came it caught a bad cold and was down for week and half. Missed my rut in East Texas. Didn’t get to use it much this year but I only paid 1500 bucks for mine. Far cry cheaper than a 4 wheeler.
I welded a receiver on one of those cheap receiver hitch carriers from harbor freight and mount my bike rack on the back of that. Which goes on the back of my old 97 Tahoe hunting buggy. It’s a good set up for me. Sure as heck easier than a trailer for a SxS or 4wheeler and I have both.
This years season was a bust, couldn’t get off work during bow season, it was hot as hell anyway. Gun season was a bust.
You can have all the electric bikes and hunting stuff there is, but seems like the stars have to align just right to be able to use them. At least in my case.
Electric bikes are not for everybody. I’d say if a guy played with dirt bikes or motorcycles they are fine, may be a good fit. Riding one on bad ranch roads or in my case bad logging roads pitch dark is not for the week of heart. It took me a couple of different light setups before I could actually see good to ride in the dark.
The one I have is dang fast, I’d say it runs well over 20 mph on flat ground. I bought a gravity monster which good enough for me.
I’d get rid of my 4 wheeler before I’d get rid of my electric bike.
They way my lucks gone last couple of seasons I might need to quit and start collecting stamps LOL. Week before Christmas wife ended up both bad sick. Thought we had Covid, got tested for Covid, both tested negative but Dr said we had the flu. Though we were going to both die. About as sick as I’ve ever been, wife is still a little sick.
Limped around last year with broke foot, missed this year sick, sh……t happens LOL. I be ready and give it hell next season.
Time to forget about hunting till next year and get ready and back to bass fishing.
5-8k for an electric bike? Out of principal I don't think I could pull the trigger on one.
I hear you but eBikes are like computers in the 90's-00's in that you can build your own for a lot less, like $1500 for good motor and battery plus whatever you spend on a bike.
My bike has front and rear suspension. So it handles rough ground pretty well. But I’ve ridden mountain bikes for decades, so I’m comfortable on rough terrain. If you’re inexperienced, you may not be. As far as muddy, it also does well. It’s not as nimble as a good mountain bike, as it is much heavier (75 lbs). And if I encounter a really rutted area, I’ll walk it. One nice feature is that you can put it in walk mode, and the motor will move the bike as you walk, so you don’t have to push it. But I don’t go fast, and don’t take risks. I don’t want to fall with my rifle on my shoulder. I don’t use a rack, as I’d rather not have my rifle attached to the bike.
But on dirt roads or smooth trails, it’s super easy. As far as lights, I use a Quiet Cat light, in the red mode. It’s plenty bright for going in the dark. Especially going fairly slow.
I am an avid mountain biker, used to own a high end shop, raced, travel several times a year out of state..
I have taken mine out to our lease but some of it so sandy it it just not fun at all.
Fat tire bike is the only way to go.
They don't make 10-ply tires for bikes. . I'd be too afraid of eating it with a rifle in hand on a sandy spot or odd rock sticking out.
The very first lease I ever went to look at, my boys and I took our MTB's to go ride around. Net of the story, I ended up having to throw the tires away as never could get all the pickers out and kept puncturing the tubes.

Depends on the location, stickers were not an issue for us, but mesquite thorns were, but only occasionally. On the kids bike, I pulled the innertubes and stuffed pipe insulation in them. Inside of the pieces of pipe insulation I used water hose as a filler. Rough ride but they never had another flat.

If I was 40 years younger and in my 30s I would buy this kit and weld up a tricycle. Using a fat tire bike front end https://www.ebay.com/itm/284655515192?hash=item4246ca7638:g:rOAAAOSwGg5iDFGf
Located in Garland, I would hope to get a discount for the free shipping. A riding lawnmower tractor seat, with a tilt bed behind it.

Seems like it would have to have the trailer attached to it 24/7 unless your just scouting or hunting small game.
That’s my issue with bikes. But overall I think it’s a great concept. In the national forests and wilderness area they are still considered a motorized vehicle so the places I would want them for they are still verboten. Then there is the charging issue.
I am a fan of Rokon motorcycles as well
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.
I have a Volcon Grunt on order and I hope to take delivery in the coming weeks.
This bike has the option to buy a small pull behind trailer, which I hope this becomes my method of approaching hunting grounds in near silence vs. my Kawi Mule.
I'm so engaged by the electrification of Powersports products I started a Blog/Forum just focused on this segment of the market.
