yep, no doubt! Is he on your property?
Experience in Western Colorado has shown if there is one there will be more not far off.

That doesn’t look like any coyote I ever saw. It’s heavy in the chest.

Nice black one. I'd love to have his pelt on the wall.

Coyote all day long. Narrow muzzle, tall pointy ears, no large sized paws, barely bigger than the pumpkin on the ground. A quick google search of “melanistic coyote” will show the exact same animal.

And yes I would shoot it and mount it. Very unique and uncommon find even if it’s a coyote.

Awesome pic!!

The Yotes I have been seeing the last 15 years are pretty small in comparison to that one. I have also seen 2 melanistic ones in my life and both were much smaller than that one as well. I also hunt out west where most tend to be smaller anyway.

I could go either way on that one. Odds are its a Yote, but it would not surprise me if it turned out to be a Wolf either. He has that look to him and is really thick.

Anything's possible.
If it is a wolf it is a hybrid. usually all the wolves I have seen have more rounded tips of the ears.
That canine has such a beautiful clean fur coat like it has not had to struggle in the outdoors much?
Yep with all of my vast experience with wolves on Google, the zoo and the Yellowstone show I pretty much am an expert rofl

I’m going with a Coyote due to the shape of the muzzle, ears, and over all shape of the head. It has a great coat which I wouldn’t mind having.
