Probably been covered before…But these are new times and new products are out. I’m looking for opinions on a new spotting scope. Most of my rifle scopes are Mil-radian and this spotting scope will be used both in competition and hunting. At present the longest shooting rifle is a 338-378 Weatherby followed by a 300 Win Mag and a 6.5 Creedmoor. In hunting my shots are between 200-600 yards on whitetail and Mule deer. Target shooting at present is out to 1000 yards. Within a couple of years I’m moving to the next step up…375 or 408 Cheytac but that’s down the road. Anyway my criteria for a spotting scope will be a FFP with a MIL-Radian reticle (I think unless someone sways me another way). Budget will be under $3000. My thoughts were either Leupold Mark4, Vortex Razor HD or on the high end a Swarovski. Shooting long distance isn’t new to me as I have been shooting and reloading for over 40 years. Thoughts and suggestions are welcome.

I got this one two years ago. Just looked at it as an investment, that will do what I need it to for decades. I use it almost weekly.

Two weeks ago, while shooting 2180 yards, a good friend of mine was looking through this spotter. Once he got on target, and got focused he said "oh my God, this is badazz!" You will not want for anything else. I'm pretty sure it is the top 5% of spotting scopes used at The King of Two Miles matches.

204 lookers and only one suggestion? I can’t deny that what has been suggested would almost satisfy my criteria. The only drawback is it being $1,500 over my budget right now.

Burris Signature HD 20-60 meets your criteria at half your budget.

Of your list the Leupold would be my choice.

Full budget is the Meopta S82. I don’t know if this has a mil reticle available like the other two.



I would NOT buy the Vortex. Too many horror stories.

if you can spend 3k buy swarovski zeiss of leica just keep looking you find a deal some where and make sure it has a fine adjustmet i hav a mark 4 that doesent and a leica the does big difference

Make the purchase, and be done with it.

with that said I have a Bushnell elite 8-40 w the H32 grid and love it. the strait body and 8x allow me to run my PVS 27
