For years, TSA picks me off. Old white guy, ya know.
I’m fed up with it. What has to happen to get approved for Precheck?

Fill out the online form, pay the fee, wait until the paperwork is approved (that took a week for my kids), then schedule and appointment for the face to face interview.
DFW (and most other airports in Texas) had no face to face time slots the last time I checked. I just checked and scheduled my kids for March 1st. That was the first time I found time slots in the last month.

I also just read that you will be given a known traveler number at the interview (assuming you pass) and you can start using the Pre Check immediately.
I have Global Entry and the kids will also, so we will have cards. I do not know if TSA Pre Check has a card or not.

If you're going to do it, get global entry. Same process and for $15 makes a huge difference if you travel overseas. The only difficult part is getting the interview scheduled.

Is that # tattooed on your body somewhere by the government? It is a voluntary program. I do not travel like I used to. I went to South Africa in May and it did not help since the airplanes were only 25% full. It did help coming back from the Bahamas pre covid. No lines when coming back into the US. Pre Check helps every time I fly. They Stand Around does not get to see my naked body in the scanner. (I bet they have a vomit bucket for some of us.)

I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

All of the above, and don't go there carrying a loaded gun or have a hundred grand of dope money all sealed up in plastic in your checked luggage, and you should be okay.

Get a handicap placard, it does the same thing and will work in other coutries to go to the first of the line

The lines for the pre check are longer than the normal lines, but don't have to remove light jacket, shoes or separate laptop from carry on's.
Have had pre check for business for over 4 years, mine will expire in a little over a year.

I carry my laptop in backpack that fold open and TSA apporved so you don't have to remove it when doing carry on

Even with the lines and ever growing popularity, I really appreciate this.

It depends a lot on when you travels too. Monday morning, the precheck lines are usually longer, but weekends you can breeze right through. At airports that use CLEAR, it can be a huge timesaver too.

Is that # tattooed on your body somewhere by the government? If you're a conspiracy theorist, this voluntary time saving program probably isn't for you.

you guys are too much
but it's still a great place for useful information, thanks I will be signing up.
I saw TSA absolutely badger an old man yesterday that was suffering with Parkinson's. Shame on them all for treating him that way. I've had enough of their [censored].
