I'm just now composed enough to tell this story....I've been thinking about my dad all day, because in a few hours he left his mortal body and became whole, and upright with his Lord....so, it's been a day of memories and reflection....I still miss him so much and even though it's been 4 years, it still feels raw if I let it.... so, the story....I get home usually in time to have about a 35 minute hunt at our place. Today was no different except I sat down in my spot and prayed for comfort and peace, and then I was just talking with dad about the deer I killed in 2017 right before he died. He was on the phone with me that morning and was excited for me...a few weeks later he was gone....so.....I tell dad "go run that old 8 out there Pop, I'll knock him down"...I laughed a little and said that would be a great Christmas present Pop...I looked down where I see them, and he was there....haven't seen him in daylight ever...he's been on my camera many times....tonight, 30 minutes before dark, he was standing broadside 110 yards away... frozen....I picked my spot and he went straight down. I watched for a minute to make sure, and then I put my head down and cried like a baby. I finally got composed enough to take the 4 wheeler down and brought him up to the house...Sara, Shayla, Ryan, and Alex came and helped me get him to my very godly deer processor who hugged me when he heard what happened....I am sitting here in awe of our mighty God for allowing one of his Angels to come say hello to his mortal son. I love y'all and thanks for listening. MJ

It's been 8 months for me, and opening day sucked a ton of horse farts, to put it mildly. Thank you for sharing your story.

Great story - it hurts so much losing a parent that the sorrow never goes away because we miss them so much
as they are a such as big part of our lives. So glad your dad heard you and moved that deer out for you.

Thanks for sharing it with us.
My Dad's last hunt and the last hunt we had together was on Dec. 28th, 2012. It was his best buck ever and he was 86 yrs old at the time. I had that buck mounted for him and it hangs in my living today. It is the first deer you see when walking into the room. Age is not kind to any of us, but hunting with your family and especially with your Dad is truly something special. Any hunt with family could be your last hunt, cherish the day.

Congrats and thanks for the story!

If you find yourself feeling useless, remember it took 20 years, trillions of dollars, and four presidents to replace the Taliban with the Taliban.

Sometimes the Universe puts you in the same situation again to see if you’re still a dumbass.

If your dad was a good one, you miss him every day 'til you see him again in Heaven. I know that's the way it is with me.

Great story. God's peace to you.
