I shot a full grown ewe and dumped it where we dump carcasses and pigs. The next day there was no trace of the ewe. It did not appear that it was eaten on the spot. I am wondering how many coyotes it took to drag off something that large or consume it without leaving any evidence. I figured if the ate it on the spot there would at least be some lower legs left behind.

We liked 4 or 5 fox one night in Sanderson. Skinned them and threw the carcasses down a little canyon. We were tent camping and less than 30 yards away from them. By the next morning (maybe 6 hours later) every one of them was gone without a trace. I’ve always wondered the same. Also figured we would have heard a bunch of coyotes.

Usually they make a bunch of noise when they get on a fresh dead kill

Last time I killed a hog I put the carcass in front of a game camera with video mode on...it was interesting to watch what happened over the next two days. Several times I've killed 5-6 hogs on my place and piled them up, and then go back a week later and there's not a trace of them but a few bones.

Happens all the time at our place. Kill a pig, drop it off in the bone yard, gone without a trace in 24 hours.

Here is my deer 24 hrs later, we don't have coyotes or I suppose the bones would be gone as well. This is strictly buzzards and them Mexican Eagles. In the rain too and tucked under the trees, amazed how they can find this stuff so fast.

Seen it happen plenty of times, even on large 200lb+ pigs. Usually will find bones anywhere from 10-50yds away from drop. One of the reasons I don’t mind that we don’t shoot a lot of coyotes, I know they are too spoiled to try and take down a deer between the weekly gut piles

Two friends of mine where hunting mule deer late one afternoon about 13 yrs ago out in the Trans Pecos. One friend spotted some coyotes trotting thru the greasewood. He decided to call them in and shot 3 of them. He laid them out on top of a pile of large rocks on a pipeline right of way and continued sitting to glass for mule deer. They left at dark and returned the next morning to the exact same spot. After daylight they noticed that all 3 coyote carcasses were gone. No trace of them. No bones, no blood, no hair. Nothing left.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

I e dumped whole hogs over 200 lbs and had them completely disappear over night. I’ve seen them sit mor months on end as just a dried out hollow shell of hide wrapped around a skeleton oozing goo too. those are the times you think the one yard should be further from camp!
It's hell eatin em live

Shat a doe with my bow earlier in the season around Del Rio. It was a good fatal hit but she ran so I gave her an hour to die before I went to track her. I got to the open field she ran toward and was looking for blood when I noticed a group of at least 30 buzzards about 50 yds away. I hustled over there and they had already picked at the eyes and rear end, less than an hour. I got my deer and no harm done but hungry nature does not mess around when something dies!
