Was fortunate enough to harvest this guy — the biggest buck on the property. He’s a full 12-points, even if not particularly wide (non-ar county).

But I can’t help but notice that once he was out of the picture, two more bucks bigger than him moved in who hadn’t shown up on any of my cameras before. He must have been tough enough to hold them off.
Have y’all ever seen anything like that?

Title kind of misleading. OP should maybe come on and introduce himself and his buck instead of throwing that title out there. Congrats though!

Wasn’t trying to be misleading. Happy to retitle the post, but this was my first experience seeing bucks step in that quickly.

Apologies.

And, hi.

welcome Mature bucks are not usually the first ones into a feeder or show themselves in the daylight early in the season IME.

Welcome.
I don’t think the others showing up necessarily had to do with him being gone. Deer change patterns for various reasons.

Sometimes a young nice 8 for example will kick an older bigger rack bucks tail. Kinda like my 52 old self trying to fight an in shape 25 yr old. Ain’t gonna be fun for me lol

It’s more likely he moved off because they were coming especially if they were older deer

Just caught that. Still unlikely a 3.5yr old deer was keeping much pushed away

We see it many times where we shoot a mature feeder maid and then have anew buck pop up.

It wasn't a question or concern, it was purely a slap me on the back, harumph post

Just to play the devils advocate, Low / no hunting pressure and the dominant buck might live at the feeder

I think the OP was not a tourist the day he killed that buck. He was hunting grin
