Just wondering if anybody knows why they pulled out of Texas years ago? I was never impressed with the help at the one that was in San Antonio. I told a church member friend this and he informed me his son worked there. Once again, my opinionated foot went in my opinionated mouth. 'Was recently at the one in Juneau, AK. Although the help was about the same, it was a good selection of stuff. The closest one down here seems to be in Las Cruces, NM. I spent a week there one night.

I found this, in an article by the Austin Business Journal (2009). "Forty-five employees will be laid off at Sportsman's Warehouse Inc.'s location in Round Rock as part of the permanent closure of that store in May.
The Midvale, Utah outdoor sports and equipment retailer is shuttering 23 stores nationwide as part of an effort to reduce its debt. That figure includes the Round Rock store at 3202 I-35 and the company's store in San Antonio."
I didn't realize, they'd been gone that long.

I frequented the Lewisville location and was sad to see them go. I think the debt came as a result of rapid expansion that didn't generate the expected revenue.

Somebody said their closures had something to do with the principal ownership, husband and wife divorcing or something...

Who knows why they closed but the Bass Pro merger was temporarily cancelled, its a matter of time before they get the paperwork figured out and BP is selling their junk in thr and I’m sure they will be back in Texas again.

Went into the San Antonio store occasionally, and was not impressed by the service or the prices. I did take advantage of the going-out-of-business sale and bought a literal half shopping cart of ammo for stupid cheap (something like 80% off).

They just opened a new store in grand island nebraska this year. I like it better than our basspro but neither one holds a candle to Cabela’s (or what they were).
