I was holed up at a tree base about 70 yards from the feeder when the turkeys showed up . A pig had eaten all the corn so they were milling around and would not be still for a neck / head shot with the 17 WSM . I took a shot and missed , they all scattered and I tried another base of the neck shot on one just as he tried to fly . The bullet broke both wings at the base and hit nothing else , he settled and stood still for a finishing head shot . No meat damage at all .

Good deal! Posts some pictures of those turkey breasts once you prepare them.

I had a slow day deer hunting yesterday. Four gobblers came to the feeder. I had my .270, and connected with a head shot. Just had some for dinner. I have heard that some guys aim a rifle at the rear legs. I thought if I tried this, I may blow the turkey to bits. I figured with a head shot, I would either hit, or miss.

I feel the wild turkey is much better than the fattened store bought . Since I do like eating them I like to rifle them in the head or neck base so not to wreck any meat . Good shot then . Hope yours cooked up good . Since they are always eating up my corn I figure they owe me some corn fed smoked turkey .
