Lake A was light today. Hunted duckweed but it had rooted out so no takers. Still, could have had a couple if I'd stashed the boat and hunted in the water. Didn't bring my mud seat so I used the boat blind.

Slow this morning but shot a limit of gadwall.

The horse pond, indicator pond, still does not have many birds on it.

Have a few birds located for tomorrow morning if no one jacks with them this afternoon.

worthless

Decoy's on the water, shell casing floating in the water. dog going and coming back, high flyers, blinds (good and bad) are needed with these posts. If you by chance put a video on please no sound or if you do beware of the repercussions if we get to give you after hearing you "calling them in".

BTW love the posts as they are just giving some of you a hard time.

Not many birds flying this morning but what was did it right. I think this is the first time Ive shot 8 birds. 4 gadwall, 2 mallard drakes and 2 hooded mergansers. Great solo hunt with the dog.

The road goes on forever and the party never ends. Here's a few more solid trips this year. Pops has been the lucky charm . Limits every time he steps in the blind.

No birds on any tanks today. I think they took advantage of the wind and warm weather to vacation in Kansas for a few days.

I'm hearing reports that alot of birds moved in. I didn't see it this morning. Shot 3 gads, 2 teal and wood duck. But not much flying this morning. Had a group of 10-12 teal come in at first light, then 3 gads, the a pair of wood ducks flew by, then a pair of gads. Thats kinda been the season so far for me, a dozen to two dozen birds seen each hunt. Scouti g has been the same, can't find any bigger concentrations of birds.

Saw the most ducks this afternoon that I’ve seen in 2 years. We shot a 2 man limit pretty quick then just sat back and watched birds just fall in!

Mallards showed up at tank 1 again. This time at average historic numbers. Earlier the numbers were down. Makes me think the usual group was late this year. Tank 5 had large numbers of resting birds. These are usually transitory.

None of the tanks I talk about here are hunted and usually remain undisturbed. That allows some speculation into flight numbers and wintering v transitory birds. The usual feeders are not at tank 4 but the landowner was doing maintenance nearby so they may have moved on. Over the years I've scouted these tanks, I've come to the conclusion that, left undisturbed, the same flocks will visit the same water year after year. The numbers tend to be uncannily average. 20 to 30 mallards on tank 1 in the middle of the day. 3 to 5 feeding gadwall on tank 4 for most of the day. 30 to 50 resting birds on 5 when wind and weather warrant. 15 to 20 late season birds on 7 most of the day.

We hunted with one of the better known outfitters in north texas this morning and shot 8 between 5 of us. I won't list the outfitters name as I don't want people to think they put us on a bad hunt. The guide worked hard and they did everything they could to make it a successful hunt. But the reality is there are very few birds in north texas right now. And I am having my doubts that they will show up by the end of the season since it will be near 80 degrees again Christmas.

Nada this morning. First hunt for me this year. It was awesome to sneak out. I didn't hear any shots around me which on a day like today birds will just camp all day undisturbed. I'll be back.

Things are getting a little better. Still shooting mixed bag. Seeing lots of wood ducks. Some mallards and gadwalls. No teal so far. Which is odd!
Been letting the boys do alot of shooting!

They are concentrated. Only saw 17 total, half mallards, enough for a 1 man by 8:15. If I hunted with another gun or 2, had only 9 hit the decoys. Have seen less than 50 on all hunts last few hunts, typically 25 plus minus. Earlier in season was seeing 100-150 plus per hunt.

Still going strong. Shooting anywhere from 6-12 birds per hunt. Still mixed bags though.

Ordered a Sitka Speedo for this weekends Christmas shoot since it’ll be 85! roflmao
