They arent boots that make a statement, but I picked up a pair of lace up red head boots from BassPro a few years ago, they havent made a trip to the mountains, but they are waterproof very comfortable and keep my feet toasty warm and do not sweat like thick wool socks in my normal work boots used to.

They were like $40, some form of nylon/cammo.

I drove all over the metromess Saturday looking for boots. Redwing didn't have my size. Orvis doesn't sell boots in stores. Sheels only had the LLBean Kangaroo insulated, Irish setter insulated, or the pronghorn Sharptail. I want an uninsulated and I have been burned by my recent purchase of Danners.

I’ve worn eccos for the last 5 years. Have held up well and are comfortable.

I like Irish setter havocs that's all I wear. But they do wear out pretty easy. I do have bad feet so I won't wear anything else.

Hanwag banks and altra are slight steps up durability wise. But you can find Lowa Renegades a lot easier

I know this will come off sounding like a boot snob, but there is any hiking, rough terrain, or weather elements involved, I would never trust a $40 pair of RedHead boots.

My current boot is the Lowa Camino GTX. They're great- comfortable and provide stability but not to stiff. And most importantly, they are actually waterproof. I've had inferior boots (esp. Danner's) that claim to be waterproof, but leaked from day 1. Made in Germany, so you know the quality is exceptional.

Forget upland boots. Back packing boots are the way to go. There designed to carry a heavier load and give more support on top of rocks. I like zamberlain.

Order from zappos and they do free return shipping. I ordered 3 pairs at once to see what fit.

I've been wearing browning kangaroo leather for quite a few years-they are still waterproof but they are getting a "little" worn. I've been researching since last season. My brother keeps complaining that his danner sharptails dont keep his feet dry. I tried to find a pair of irish setter original moc toe upland boots to try on but are absolutely backordered everywhere. I did find that they weigh 4 lbs-I walk way too much when I bird hunt or might have considered them.
After a year of research, I'll will tell that you a lighter, waterproof mountain boot may be the way to go.I just pulled the trigger on a pair of crispi GMX @ 3lbs . Fit like a glove-plenty of support. Tread isn't too aggressive(mud), Superlight and waterproof with a lifetime guarantee. Great customer service. I wore them in North Dakota chasing sharpies on the prairie a few weeks ago-they were amazing. I look forward to the rest of my season wearing them.

Mine are pretty well broken but a good pair of socks is almost as important as the boots especially when I wear my rubber knee boots on wet mornings.

I just bought Irish setter wingshooters. I have always been a Danner guy. These better not leak.

So far they don't leak. They are noninsulated, but they are hot. I have been wearing them everywhere to try to break them in. Halfway through the 1st day of my present hunting trip in Kansas I had to put them in the truck because they were giving me such bad blisters. I've been trying to wear them around on the land and to the rodeos, but they are wearing my ankles out.. I were really good double socks and these aren't working out. Never had an issue with Danner wearing me out.

Just tried to buy some Danner 8” sharptails- out of stock in every size except a few places with 9 and 10. I wear a 12 or 13. Some online chatter says they shut down for extended periods during covid. With them being based in Portland, this does not surprise me.
