Pulled my SD cards from the lease and this is what I see. Very few deer but plenty of these suckers. More this year than ever. They have to go. I'm sure they are the reason i'm not seeing many deer.

Well, get after 'em! Kill 'em all! What part of the State are you in? Might want to consider trapping them because you'll never shoot them out of existenc!

My pig numbers were WAY up this year
I’d guess 100% increase
I’m their only predator and I don’t shoot more than 10-15 a year.
It’s borderline ridiculous on our place

Yup. Same problem in Hardeman Co. Haven’t had time to hunt this year.

Well, get after 'em! Kill 'em all! What part of the State are you in? Might want to consider trapping them because you'll never shoot them out of existenc! I’m in East Texas Welcome to the club (East Texas covered up in hogs club). I live on my property and Shoot, Trap, Snare hogs all the year long. They just make more. Had a boar hanging around the last couple of weeks. Wouldn't go in a pen trap. Couldn't shoot him because he'd only come around in the wee hours of the morning and I'm not staying up all night for that. Set a couple of snares out at a fence crossing I thought he might be using and caught him. But its just one hog. In the scheme of things doesn't do much to reduce the population. And yes, having a large number of hogs can/will affect deer movement and if on small properties even the population.

Most of the deer leases in East Texas are hog leases not deer leases.
A buddy of mine has a deer lease on the Neches River between Palestine and Rusk and 13 hunters have taken over 700 hogs off the lease in the past year, and that is just one piece of property.

That's everywhere There's not enough people willing to take varmints for fear of "ruining their deer hunt " and to take the time to run a few traps . I guess they'll end up at a high fence lodge somewhere if they want to take a deer. I imagine the folks with expensive high fence places don't cut the varmints on their places any slack. I would think a bunch of hungry feral hogs or a few bobcats could wipe out a quail hunting operation or gobble up a good many young exotics. People need to change their thinking and be proactive Carry a good 22 to the stand and pop any varmints you see and pick up a few traps and learn to use them. It's not going to fix itself

I plan to setup some traps after deer season if I stay on the lease.

That's everywhere There's not enough people willing to take varmints for fear of "ruining their deer hunt " ... When Pig Popper and I used to hunt Bosque County, the 1200 acre property was off limits to us for 4-6 months depending on what the deer hunters were doing. Well, apparently what they weren't doing was killing hogs. We would kill off 150-200 hogs and be down to piglets and when we we had to stop so that the deer hunters could come in and then we I got the call to return, it was like we had never been there before. The beauty of the place was it had the only grain field for a few miles in any direction and depending on the year, it was a 25 acre field with 35 acres fallow or a 35 acre field next to 25 acres fallow. It was a magnet for hogs. The deer hunters were out of towners and were really only there for the deer. They might shoot some hogs after tagging out, but mostly if they tagged out, they didn't come back until next year.

I am willing and able to help with shooting Hogs on properties. Safe, responsible and follow the landowners rules.

Y'all night hog and coyote hunters gotta quit ruining the deer hunting before they all leave and you ruin everything for everyone. If you run all the decent deer off who's going to pay for maintaining the property??? Some of the things I hear pass through deer lease holder lips baffles me. I had to start documenting things for the ranchers. It's 4 weeks into rifle season and I again had to shoo this fella and his buddies off the trough to both set the camera and 3 days and 8 dead hogs later when I went to pull it.

80% is your target to maintain a steady pig population. If you want to reduce the number of pigs you have, you have to kill MORE THAN 80% of what is there.
I can't imagine deer hunters not wanting pigs eradicated. Totally illogical thinking. Many years ago we leased from a sheep rancher. He actually wrote in a provision to the lease that shooting pigs is encouraged, and that it was mandatory to make all reasonable efforts to kill any coyote or predator that we saw. We used to hang them from the fence at the entrance and he loved it.

Look for the boars kill every one you see! They can reproduce more than you can kill by yourself! They will double every year. That’s what we have seen unfortunately!
