So we now have constitutional carry

Does that mean I can leave a pistol in plain view in my truck now?

Just driving down the road on the dash if I want

No CHL

Don’t see why not. I mean if you can carry in plain sight I don’t see why you couldn’t display in plain sight in your vehicle. Probably not a smart thing to do but don’t see how it would be illegal.

Visible handguns must be holstered.

But otherwise you are not restricted (assuming may legally possess a handgun).

Gentlemen, pardon my ignorance, but,in Texas, can a person ,otherwise legally capable, carry a handgun openly and /or concealed or is it necessary to have a special permit to carry concealed?I lived in OK. At one time and passed through Texas, and damn ,it took me a long time to pass through the great state of Texas! I am not complaining it was great but I was destined to be sucked back to the bowels of this place , “As soon as you think your free, they suck you right back in!”

Visible handguns must be holstered.
That must be quite a holster for an AR-15 pistol.

One shot is all it should take.

Not at all tie some paracord to something so when you lift the gun the holster pops right off ready to rock.

While very unpractical it is amusing and looks to be legal. If i had one of those they'd probably find it in a parking lot where I threw it in disgust first time I tried to get in the truck. I have enough trouble getting an AR from the passenger side of the truck out the driver side window. It's like welding leads they hang up on everything.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

Jumper Cables are the worst. I swear....I don't know why when responder's have to 'drag' a river or lake for a drowned body....they don't get out a pair of jumper cables. Those things hang up on EVERYTHING.

A fine example of "can" vs "should"

Get yourself an M1 Carbine, cut of ff the stock so it has a pistol stock look. We had some like that and used them in Vietnam when going into tunnels. Only difference was ours were M2's.

Here is a pic I go off the net, top is a M79 bottom a cut off M2

The rifle in the above photo is actually a cut off M14, not an M2 Carbine.

The M79 Grenade Launcher was my Dad's favorite weapon.

When I travel, I toss a pistol into the side pocket of the door. I’ve assumed that to be legal with no holster. Heck, I don’t own a holster.

So, am I legal?

IF the firearm is readily visible to an ordinary person looking into the vehicle then it is NOT legal to carry it 'openly' without a holster.

You may legally have the firearm 'concealed' in the vehicle and not be required to have it in a holster.

So to recap:

In plain sight= Holstered
Concealed= No holster

Serious question. If I have it in a holster can I put it in the side pocket of the door, or does the holster have to be attached to me?

Holstered and in plain view can be anywhere you like. It does NOT have to be attached to you. You can put it on the dash, on a seat, in a side pocket, etc....

When/IF you leave the vehicle things change. IF open carrying...it must be holstered and attached to you, if concealed carrying... it does not require a holster (but is a good idea outside of pocket or purse carry).

Agreed, but then when did law makers ever make much sense.
