With our hunting season winding down for the year, I wanted to focus on my own personal hunting challenges and try to pull off something that would really test my skills as a hunter.
Hunting a Baboon with a bow, pure walk and stalk.

I will be doing a few of these videos so please subscribe to the channel and join me as I try to pull off an almost impossible hunting challenge.

You are quite the hunter if you manage to pull that off. Good luck!

I was just thinking about bowhunting for baboons the other night. But then I woke up because of my own high-pitched shrieking.... No like the baboons! Take care of 'em for the rest of us!

The rains finally arrived which put a halt on my plans to pursue a troop of baboons that had been coming routinely into a pasture that would have provided good cover. But when the rains finally cleared, I was able to get after them again and do a little extra hunting on the side.

Hope you enjoy the video and please show some support with a LIKE & SUBSCRIPTION. 👍

Not going to lie, iv never tasted them and never will. To much of a personal hatred for them but my staff working here on the farm absolutely love eating baboon. They would choose baboon over a prime Angus steak anyday. They say it's similar to beef but a lot sweeter.

Contrary to popular belief they are extremely clean animals. Because grooming is an integral part of their social hierarchy they remove ticks, fleas and any other insects from other baboons.

Baboons are very challenging to hunt. I made a trip to Cameroon and the guy that ran the concession we were hunting asked us to shoot some because they were playing hell on his oribi and red flanked duiker. Only happy to help. His number one tracker belonged to a tribe that liked baboon meat so he took every one that I shot so I didn't feel any quilt in targeting them.

Didn't go to Cameroon to hunt baboons but filled in the time between stalks on Western Roan and Nigerian Reedbuck with an Oribi tossed in.

That Western Roan is phenomenal, congratulations. I was meant to head up to Cameroon and Uganda on a hunt but Covid had other ideas and unfortunately, the client had to cancel outright. I was looking forward to that trip so much.

They certainly are a tough hunt, I believe the Baboons up that way are the Olive Baboons. The only Baboon hunt I would ever pay for would be a Gelada in the mountains of Ethiopia.

Thank you. The roan taped a little over 34 inches on the left horn and just shy of 34 inches on the right. He was a really old bull with teeth worn down to the gum line and scars on his right shoulder where he had a run in with a lion in his younger days. The perfect bull to take. I have done most the hunting I care to do and can afford in Africa. If I ever go back it will be to target the little stuff like klipspriner and grysbok.
