Had similar thing happen last week. Tried turning down volume using the "Sounds" and didn't realize it activates the ringer. Luckily, the deer were 100 yards away.

Love a good harmonica. Growing up there was a family friend (one of Dad's best friends) that was the best shot with a bow & arrow, and the best harmonica player I have ever known.

This old man could do absolutely INSANE things with his long bow. Was nothing to hit white styrofoam cups at 50/75/100 yards in the wind. NO BS. He only hunted with a bow his whole life, and was crazy good with accuracy. Never seen anything like it.

Anyway, by trade he was an underwater welder and was a joker, but the best harmonica player I have ever known. Everywhere Floyd Jones went, he carried a bag of harmonicas with him and man that man could play. When I was a kid I loved to sit next to him and listen to him play all of those harmonicas, he would let me try too.....and then he would scare the chit out of me. He had false teeth, and he would pop his teeth out in my face and make a sound that I won't repeat. roflmao Again, he was a joker. THE BEST archery shot ever (and I've known some good ones), and the best harmonica player I've ever known.

RIP Mr Jones. You're a dying breed.

Sorry about the long story, but every time I hear a harmonica I think of that old man.

Absolutely no apology necessary. When an old soul touches a young man's heart, that is to be remembered.

If you're going to scare off deer, Muddy Waters is a good choice. I also need to listen to some good Blues. I have a friend who liked to play tinwhistle, and he had a guy make a blues-keyed whistle. It was awesome.

I had mine on vibrate the other day. Was sitting in a tree stand on a perfectly calm morning. Some does came in and were on high alert. The momma doe was hanging back from the feeder and was standing about five yards from me.I had set my phone on the seat next to me. My buddy text me something stupid and when that phone vibrated that doe jumped out of her skin.

Your deer have no taste if they don't like Muddy Waters. You need to find smarter deer.

Phones have an on/off button. I always turn mine off when I am hunting. Don't have to worry about it that way.

I'm tellin' you, there's a fork horn at this "killing area" grin that's possibly the dumbest deer I've ever come across. I can almost shake hands with the dumb bastard, if, of course, he had hands.

My ringtone is a cottontail in in distress. Not only does it not freak out the deer, but I've popped a coyote after getting a call. I do get some odd looks in the grocery store when it rings though roflmao

1st of all Creek, we can be friends if your ringtone is Muddy waters. That is right out of my playbook. The one thing about Muddy is that he knew great talent. Always had a good guitarist and harp player with him. He found a young teenager named Buddy Guy and had him in his band. My ringtone is crickets just in the off chance I forget to turn it off in the blind.
