Go see Jeff Biggars (Biggar Hat Store) in Decatur. His Instagram page has lots of good photos of some of his custom work if you need ideas on color, shape & style. I know of a few others on here that have hats from him.

This! He tailor fits them to you and your style right there while you wait. I’m thinking about stopping by there next time on my way back from the lease for another one

Yup, wife got me one for Christmas a few years ago. He actually puts a device on your head that creates an exact template that is used to form the fit of your hat to your head. Listen to him, he has a feel for what will look best on you. He talked me into a color, that at first I didn't want, Pecan. I get a compliment on it nearly every time I wear it.

According to my son, you will need two. One for felt season and one for straw season. Don't wear the wrong one in the wrong season.

I agree, felt hats are hot as heck in the heat.

I have several hats in diff colors and styles, and for formal wear, don't think you can go wrong with a Stetson Open Road (often referred to as an LBJ). I broke out my lucky black Stetson Rancher for the Big 12 championship game this weekend...it didn't work unfortunately for OSU.

I think this one was about $500.00. I think his custom hats start about there. [Linked Image]

I like that color.

I got a non-custom 8X late October and it was $350. I plan on going back in February to order a custom straw, he said those start around $150.

I have a number of Felt and Straw hats, some custom, some just production hats.

But my favorite of all (for fit and durability) is an old American Hat Co. Silver-belly I've had for over 40 years.

Been reconditioned a couple of times. Its like an old friend to me.

I'm not paying $500 for a hat. loser8

If I did that, I would have to stop giving my wife a hard time for her high dollar clothes, hats, shoes, purses...

His custom starts at a 3 or 5x, typically $379. They aren’t bad, but I highly recommend 10x or higher unless you only wear them on occasion every year. 10x starts around $600 I believe. The only thing better than a hat that fits right, is a pair of boots that fit right.
