Go see Jeff Biggars (Biggar Hat Store) in Decatur. His Instagram page has lots of good photos of some of his custom work if you need ideas on color, shape & style. I know of a few others on here that have hats from him.

I’m thinking about stopping by there next time on my way back from the lease for another one

I know of a few others on here that have hats from him. Yup, wife got me one for Christmas a few years ago. He actually puts a device on your head that creates an exact template that is used to form the fit of your hat to your head. Listen to him, he has a feel for what will look best on you. He talked me into a color, that at first I didn't want, Pecan. I get a compliment on it nearly every time I wear it.

According to my son, you will need two. One for felt season and one for straw season. Don't wear the wrong one in the wrong season.

I have several hats in diff colors and styles, and for formal wear, don't think you can go wrong with a Stetson Open Road (often referred to as an LBJ). I broke out my lucky black Stetson Rancher for the Big 12 championship game this weekend...it didn't work unfortunately for OSU.

Charlie I think this one was about $500.00. I think his custom hats start about there.

Charlie I think this one was about $500.00. I think his custom hats start about there. I like that color. I got a non-custom 8X late October and it was $350. I plan on going back in February to order a custom straw, he said those start around $150.

I have a number of Felt and Straw hats, some custom, some just production hats. But my favorite of all (for fit and durability) is an old American Hat Co. Silver-belly I've had for over 40 years. Been reconditioned a couple of times. Its like an old friend to me.

I'm not paying $500 for a hat. If I did that, I would have to stop giving my wife a hard time for her high dollar clothes, hats, shoes, purses...

Charlie His custom starts at a 3 or 5x, typically $379. They aren’t bad, but I highly recommend 10x or higher unless you only wear them on occasion every year. 10x starts around $600 I believe. The only thing better than a hat that fits right, is a pair of boots that fit right.
