On a recent trip to a convenience store, I saw a customer making coffee and tea while holding his small dog. I thought to myself, is this really happening? Why would someone think it’s ok to have their dog in an area where people prepare their drinks? When he looked at me I said “really” with a disgusted look and moved on. He didn’t respond, but you could tell he thought I was out of line. I thought it was gross and a dickish move on his part, but what do I know. I do know I didn’t get any tea that day.

I love my dog, but I would never do something like that. I’ve never taken my dog into a store of any kind and don’t plan on ever doing so.

It scares me when people have them in their laps while driving.

It's just another be disrespectful of those around you issue. Dogs belong at home or in the field. Not in stores, not in places serving food and not at festivals or parks.

So many responses are tripping through my mind, but most would end up with me being sent to banned camp.

Was the dog in this person's arms licking the tea you were going to drink?

I periodically bring my dog into stores, but they are usually petsmart and tractor supply.

Don't own a dog, but I think it completely depends on the venue. Home Depot, Cabela's, etc., Where they are specifically dog friendly, I don't have a problem. Definitely not okay anywhere food is prepared or served, with the exception of outdoor venues.

The clerk in the gas station should have never let the dog in the door.

I imagine the clerks could care less other than if they have a cleanup on aisle 4 where the dog took a dump...as litigious as everything is now they're probably afraid they'll get sued for banning the pooch...

I don’t bring mine in stores but don’t have a problem with it if the business is dog friendly. Saw a fake service dog in the Huntsville Academy yesterday. Two young men, both appeared perfectly healthy. That irked me. Not because the dog was in the store. It was the two soft looking granola eaters trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes that made me want to spit.
