Always see on TV, especially shows of south Texas origin, javelinas and deer eating together on same sendero and putting up with each other to enjoy the corn. Any time javelinas come into our feeders, the deer get all offended and take off like they have seen a ghost. Was wondering what the difference is, as we have quite a few javelinas and wish they would not run all the deer off?

I’ve seen a few times this year where young deer were sharing the pen with a hog. But I shoot every oinker I see. To the point you made, they usually run off the deer for the most part.

I think it is the difference between a feeder and fed sendero. If they can spread out they are ok.

My situation is probably a little different than most with javelinas. I have ONE. He just showed up this summer. He eats with the deer a lot. Now at first they didn't know what he was and it spooked them but now hey tolerate each other.
