The events of this year were the freeze with no feeders on and water frozen over. Bow season was as green as we can remember with new forbes and grass from 6" rain. Late October we had many does on the ranch hot instead of a handful and the big bucks dispersed with 9 to this date never being seen again. Rutting activity continues here and the focus on hunting is finding does. To put a percentage on it the members have harvested 33% of a typical year. Is anyone else seeing differnt patterns?? I have been out here for about 35 days since the opener and the timing of what we typically see is way off.

In Young and Throckmorton counties, I'm seeing more deer than in other years and all in great condition.

Yep, same results north of town. Watching a feeder is slow hunting this year.

Complete opposite in Callahan County. (Baird) Heavy deer numbers, large bodies and lots of corn/protein feeder activity.

I'm over near Ballinger and we're below average on both numbers and quality. And we feed corn year round and protein Jan - Sep.

Wet years are always tougher for us seeing numbers of deer and especially mature deer. The worst year we ever had the neighbor planted a second crop of milo and left it in the field well into season... it was a slow year

We are living the "Good Old day's" of hunting on the 3 places I hunt right now.

Where I am in Southern OK has been very dry since mid july, so we have great bodies on deer from the early season and summer growth, but the deer are hammering feeders and my plots are barely producing. Antler growth was a little disappointing given the wet spring and early summer, but it is still good, just not the great year I thought we would see. We have taken three mature bucks this year and some doe, but we need to take about 4-5 more doe minimum, and plans are in place to do that. very mild acorn crop this year compared to last, so doe have been easier to pattern. This time of year the bucks go where the doe are, and later in season they will hit food sources. Pretty typical year for us with some extra mature deer since we didn't shoot any bucks last season. We will end up shooting the most deer off our place this year by a decent amount. And we could still take more if we wanted.

South of Ballinger and a late planting of Milo has made hunting way different than years past. Might as well just turn the feeders off and save the corn for later. The milo still stands and that is the only place deer are being seen, coming and going to the milo right at day break and darkness.

Deer much prefer milo over corn. One year I baited with milo by our feeders in Gillespie County and the deer ate it first.

Best year ever for us in 22 years of owning the place. Numbers are through the roof with mature bucks everywhere. It's been drier than a popcorn fart with no acorns. Rescue grass is popping up in places so hunting will probably slow down some.

Normal year in Tom Green Co for us. Quality maybe a little light but definitely not numbers
