I live in the woods so there's critters around.
One bothersome critter is the squirrel. There's plenty of those this year. Plenty.
Normally, we have numerous hawks and owls, etc., to eradicate most of the population. But this year not so much. I haven't heard an owl or hawk in weeks.

Squirrels are destructive. They chew the soffits, fascia, wires, most anything they find. And that can be expensive.

So I shoot them. Mostly.
I keep a .22 in reach and when a safe shot presents itself, it's adios squirrel.

Christmas is peaceful around here so I've decided to abstain, at least until after the holidays.

How do you deal with the squirrel situation around your house?

I have dogs that are pure heck on the squirrels. They may enter the yard area but they don't leave alive. They will tree them and then sit for hours and hours until the squirrels finally try to escape. Doesn't work out well for the squirrel. No problems here for that reason.

I live in the city so it is illegal to shoot any type of gun here. I have a big Red Oak tree in the backyard and every now and then one will just fall out of it deader than a door nail confused2 grin

I would kill them no matter what damage they did. They’re delicious.

Poll is not working. But when they tease the dog in the wintertime they often end up on the grill.

Destructive.....YES.

Yeah. My Pointer has become a co-conspirator. She sees me and the rifle and freezes until I shoot.

I used to have a Brit and Pointer that worked em as a team. One would wait at the base of a tree and the other would chase em.

The old man we bought our house from worked at the school. He trapped cat squirrels and brought the home and turned them loose. The neighbors are mad, but me and my boy shoot them out of the window, then it's in the frying pan with scrambled eggs.... or the crock pot!!! We can't kill them all.

I always let them go, until they get inside my effective range for my .177

The young tender ones I fry like chicken. The old ones go in the crock pot covered in cream of mushroom soup. I sure miss grandma's squirrel dumplins though.

Tree rats! Chew up the tops of the wooden fences, dig up my wife's bulbs, and knock over stuff in the yard...useless vermin!

Have 2 or 3 on my deer feeder everyday. Shot 41 of them in a couple months but realized it was futile. Probably had 20 of them around my yard yesterday, at least they are focusing on the acorns right now. I don't know how they replenish so fast but it is worse than coons.
