My longtime hunting buddy and I just got back from freelancing on the prairie with our dogs. Good hunting buddies are a treasure. We don’t take time for many pictures. Mostly just snap a few at the end of the day. My buddy has a torn rotator cuff. In several of the hunts he shot a single shot 410 with a half ounce of #6 steel @ 1,400 fps and was dealing. I have not included his pictures. Without his consent I will not put him on the net. The ticked GSP in some of the pics is his dog. It has a big motor. The brown Pudelpointer is mine. A few pics of some of what we got into.
Both dogs are seasoned and know how to handle a wild pheasant. We hit the ground running on day one.

We duck hunted and shot mallards, Pintail, and Widgeon.

I got some new jewelry from a mallard drake banded in the Atlantic flyway 5 1/2 years ago.

As usual we enjoyed the dog work and weather and had a big time.

Then to put a cherry on it all I picked up a pudelpointer puppy on the way home.

What breeder did the pup come from, how long was your wait to get a pup?

Cross Timbers gun dogs, Noble, Ok. Jack Tracey is the breeder. I did not have a big wait. The sire is a full brother to my other one so I had an inside track. Sire is from bob farris at cedarwood in Boise Idaho. Female is out of Bodo Winterhelle’s line in Canada and belongs to Jack. It is a dog I like. Bodo was the fellow that first brought Pudelpointers to North America.

Yes it is a special place for a bird hunter. Last year was the first time in over 20 years I did not go.
