What's up with them? I drove over there and bought a rifle, maybe 15 years ago. Then last week I started getting DAILY emails from them about their sales. New owners? Some IT kid decided to mine the old contacts?

They moved locations a few years ago into a much more visible space. I bet a new whipper-snapper was hired on to handle marketing.

I’m dreading the interaction and almost certain extreme low-ball offer, but I’ll be bringing in a valuable collectors-grade Winchester 1886 next week for an offer.

If you don't want to see the email anymore just scroll to the bottom of the email and look for the word UNSCUBSCRIBE.

SUPER SUPER OVERPRICED!

They're trying to sell the Diamondback DB15 literally for like $1100! LOL

They are easily aquired at any retailer for $650 or less. Hell, I just got a Ruger AR556 for $699 at Carters Country. Collectors is a cool store, but they are proud of themselves!

Collector's Firearms strong suite is in the name. I wouldn't buy anything new there, but interesting milsurps and other interesting used guns pop up there fairly often. I live close by and part of my after work Friday tradition is stopping by to take a gander at whatever new milsurps and such they have in. Every once in awhile I leave with something.

The store has been there for decades no doubt and management has simply caught up with the times.

Reminds me when one of the big box building supply stores told a cabinet maker they would not sell their products if they put them online for customers to see. The Internet was very new at the time and management felt that if customers didn't have to come into their stores to see the company's cabinets, they wouldn't be there to make other purchases. Needless to say, it was a very short-sighted view of the power of the Internet.

The biggest management oversight of all time rests with Sears no doubt, who once owned the catalog sales market. What is Amazon but a huge, online catalog.

Why would you do that when you could sell on here for more?

I’ve considered that, however, I doubt many are willing to spend anywhere near what the rifle is valued (appraised) at.

It’s a $30K+ rifle as appraised by a reputable Houston-area shop.

For that reason I believe selling to a shop is the simplest/cleanest way to do it.

Ohh dang.! Didn’t realize that. Makes sense.

My experience as well. The old location (Richmond and Fondren I believe) was right next door to the largest cigar shop in Houston. They were so snobby to us when we walked in the door we walked out, went next door, and bought cigars lol.
