IMO, it boils down to misjudgement that someone would stop and give up with a gun pointed at them. The guy would still be alive if he had done that and just waited for the police to show up. He would probably never have been charged with a crime and the three guys would have never seen a prison cell. The victim was most likely convinced he was about to be shot and decided to fight back. No winners and only losers all the way around on this one.

If nothing else, these cases hopefully get gun owners to think things through before grabbing a weapon, and in this case, go chasing after someone.

I tend to think he was thinking his only way not to die was to get the gun. turns out he was right.

Disagree, if all they wanted to do was kill him...why chase him all over the neighborhood. When they yelled at him to stop or at any point he saw a firearm were he to have laid face down in the grass he'd be breathing today, he'd be in jail, but he wouldn't be dead. It was stupid to stop and pull the guns, they could have continued to follow him until the cops arrived. But bottom line is the kid is dead because he chose to attack a man with a gun.

The father and son were each charged with 4 counts of Felony Murder. How is that where there was 1 victim? The other guy was found guilty on 3 counts of the same.

Verdict .. Guilty of murder all 3

If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

I'm ok with the verdicts but can you imagine the pressure on this jury after the Rittenhouse not guilty verdict?

bet no one will even ask whats going on in the case where the black guy gutted the white baby in Tx. The media creates your false reality.

Is that case in a jury trial?

Btw, you were wrong.

The verdict was guilty. They still have to go through the punishment phase.

Murder. Yes, yes. I can see their fiendish plan now: They clearly intended to have this unarmed guy punch the one ginger guy and grab his gun.
Malice aforethought- who needs it proved? I for one say that all people who dangerously try to defend property or people against crime need to get rounded up, ASAP! How can we be safe if there are people out there trying to "help" by risking themselves and giving their efforts for their communities and worse- defending their own lives?
Yeah, how dare that psycho try not to get shot with his own gun. And the other guys too, for...offering him moral support or something. They didn't know the rule about letting them attack you and take your stuff.

Great. So if you forget the rules, end up pulling a gun on an unarmed person, and they grab your barrel, you're literally better off just letting them take it. Sounds in line with legalized theft and certain DAs not prosecuting certain criminals and crimes and so forth. Hopefully the gunshot wound you receive won't be fatal, you won't be branded an enemy of the media and ruined just because, and you won't be imprisoned for systemic anti-unarmed-guy bigotry by intending to defend your own life. Absolutely brilliant.

I still don’t know the in and outs of this particular case. But Georgia seems to charge you with a lot of crimes. Plus the feds filed charges too.
The only reference I have is the Atlanta officer who shot the guy who took his taser. Seems like they charged him with like 20 crimes. Garrett Rolf.

If it was a Caucasian me on trial, I'd be very sad to see my skin-peers in GA in the jury box. I'd say jury colors would be better for justice if they were all black. Considering some unprovable generalizations that would be in my mind after the smartest people in the jury pool have been kicked out by both teams of lawyers:

1. Many whites would already arrive pre-loaded with self-skin-loathing and a burning need to prove it in public matters, thanks in part to living in Georgia/America/Planet Earth.
2. The threats to jurors for delivering the "wrong" verdict is more likely to be violent for them if they are white (glancing at racial crime stats and threats from leaders already made, black militias marching around outside during the trial). So, you know, they'd rather not have an urban guerilla army leading the hunting for them when it's over.
3. In a time where huge numbers of decisions are made only by first determining race, a fair trial by an objective jury that does not blindly consider the facts is a whole lot harder to come by. Racists know how to keep a secret heart to cover their actions.

I had a Rhetoric professor who claimed she'd been called for jury duty five times, and never made it past selection. Presumably the attorneys didn't seem to want her unique set of skills in the jury.

After watching a little of the ABC special last night and the flowers it showered on the victim, I decided to check to see if he had a criminal record. Two arrests, one for carrying a firearm into high school and another for shoplifting.
