Why not at least zero 1 ammo choice? I'm cheap, but geez!!!!!

Yes, I get the ones saying leave it, I understand the size of a kill zone. I just don't understand why at least 1 can't be zeroed.

Opening weekend of rifle season I killed a pig at about 40 yards, a doe at 115, and a coyote at 215. My rifle is zeroed with 4064 and a 150 SGK. I shot those three animals with a 130 Speer hollow point and 3031 that hits about an inch and a half at 2 o’clock. They never knew the difference, and neither did I. Aim, squeeze, bang, flop.

LOL I agree I am cheap. But It isnt easy to get ammo nowadays. The last few years I was able to get Hornady 120 SST's from Academy and I had a few hundred or more stocked up before the craze at $23 a box. Over the past summer I have shot up my ammo to about 15 to 20 SST's left and they arent at acadamy anymore or anywhere else for that matter but i have seen a few places online that have them but the price is way up. If Im going to pay that much I am going to buy quality bullets so I switched to Wilson Combat ammo at $40 a box. I have been planning on moving my bullet over to Wilson combats line and I have about 7 or 8 boxes of 95 gr Barnes TTSX that I am switching to as we speak. I also bought 6 boxes of 110gr Barnes TSX just recently and I will give those a try also. I am always afraid of running out especially during hunting season.

I agree with the 1 bullet for the rifle but things have to change to get better sometimes and ammo jsut isnt easy to get anymore. I wanted to buy more 95 gra Barnes but they have been out for awhile. I have 8 boxes on backorder but who knows when they will come in. Its just not that easy to stay with one bullet in a 6.8SPC nowadays.

Ill shoot up the SST's this weekend then take a look at the 110 grain barnes. Its fun to play around a little isnt it?

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Some of you guys crack me up.

Some of yall crack me up - spend hundreds/thousands on hunting trips and leave your gun shooting off POA to save $10 in ammo

I can't even understand this. If 1 1/2" at 2 o'clock is known, then fix it!

All he had to do was say that target was shot from a Creedmoor and people would have been in awe.

Judd says the CM always shoots tiny bugholes, is he wrong?

Oh, and you have nothing to loose by adjusting your scope, right?

I hope none of y’all ever try to sight in a open sight rifle. You will be chasing your shots all around your target for years trying to get them all to land in the 10 ring. LOL!

I’m sitting in the stand right now with a 444 Marlin that ain’t even capable of a pattern like that even with a 3x9 scope. Maybe I should quit and go home. frown

Well I didn’t quit and go home. The 444 that holds a 2.5” pattern on a good day struck gold just before dark. clap

Nice buck. Congrats.

There is nothing magic about a 100 yard zero if 100 yards does not apply to the range you shoot. What you have will work. If it were me though, I would choose the ammo I planned to use and zero at the range I planned to shoot.
Happy hunting.
