I suspect they'll soon learn that if you go after and pull a gun on someone, you may be forced to use it in a situation where a judge and jury may not be on your side.

Makes no sense to spend the rest of your life in prison over a few hundred dollars in stuff that doesn't even belong to you.

I also have to believe that any one of them, if being alone, would have reacted differently. Sometimes the group mentality is your worst enemy.

My CHL instructor said this.

Go home make a list of things you’d die for. You’ll find that list is very short. Family, a friend or two maybe a dog. But that house, your car. Those things you likely wouldn’t die for.

Those things are the only thing that you should kill for. If I’m sitting on my couch watching tv and my wife is away shopping, someone kicks down the back door. I’ll walk out the front door. The insurance company owns that place. Now if my wife is home… we’ve got a gun fight on our hands.

Think that’s pretty good logic

If you are involved in any way in the commission of a crime where someone is killed, you will be charged with capital murder as well. Rob a bank and you are the getaway driver but your partner kills someone, you are getting charged as if you had pulled the trigger yourself.

I get the jest of your logic makes sense.

On the other hand, most home invasions the perps are coming into the house so fast you will be shot in the back before you make it to your front door. Someone kicks in my door, there will be a fight.

I disagree 100% with that logic. If someone kicks down my back door and forcefully enters my home, my immediate assumption is that they are there to harm or kill me and will react accordingly. No way in hell would I flee my home and let the bad guys have their way with my castle.

Was he with the other guys or just a neighbor? Filming don’t make him involved. I assume he had to something else.

I would hate to believe if my neighbors catch someone breaking in a house and tell me and I follow and get some video I get charged with murder.

You have that right.
2 things to think about.

1: litigation will be much more expensive than your insurance deductible.
2. Do you wanna live in a house with brain matter on the wall? (Assuming you win)

Obviously if anyone shoots a peep in their house you know who’s side I’m on.

I met a guy at a friends bachelor party years ago. This guy was mugged by 2 people. He put his 357 to the body of one pulled the trigger killing him same bullet injured the 2nd. He spent 150k on lawyers defending himself in civil court.

I think leaving and letting someone have their way with your home/possessions would be a bigger negative than knowing you stood your ground and successfully defended it.

We’re assuming they are there for possessions. That is an assumption.

Murder and self defense are two totally separate things.

Killing someone over a dog but not to protect your home or yourself while in your home, is logical.......Okaay.

It was the sentiment in general that I agreed with, I should have been more concise.

If someone breaks into my home am I to assume they’ll leave me alive as a witness?
