I hunted the last two days with my youngest daughter. She is 14 and has killed a couple of deer with my help. She took a couple of years off and I I was able to convince her to give it another chance last year. She shot a doe last year and used a suppressed rifle for the first time and really enjoyed the hunt. We used the same suppressed 300 HAM’R this year. This morning this nice buck showed up. We talked about him and she made the decision she wanted to try and take him. She made a good shot on him with out any coaching from me. Dropped him in his tracks and I couldn’t have been more excited for her.

Congrats to you both, enjoy it now. My oldest daughter and I hunted a lot during her teen years and now she is a junior at Tarleton and so busy it’s hard to get a hunt in.

Congrats! That's an awesome buck and some great memories there! I'm with Big 8. I started hunting again 15 years ago largely because I wanted to pass on to my sons memories and something that my father had done with me. It worked for my oldest son, he does love to hunt too. But between college and working full time he just doesn't have a lot of time for it right now. My youngest, I never could get him interested in the sport. Fishing yes, hunting no.

Congratulations! I agree that your first real kill is when you do it by yourself rather than sitting on someone's knee. But all of it is part of maturing as a hunter. Another step is when you can kill it and field dress the animal without any assistance. Adios, Gary
