Nice shooting if you like to center punch steel. Those hits are a little low for me. I aim for the bolt heads at the top, keeps that range operator busy and out of trouble. Pretty sure that was shot by the range operator. 🤣🤣

I saw a Tikka T3 Lite Alpine and Wideland today at a gun shop. They looked awesome. Much better than the pics.

Set his work up DA and environmentals in my calculation, added in my current DA in CO, ranged a rock at 500 and cold bored it. Then went on to kill Mulie 5 days later. Can’t say enough good things about the man and his work.

Tikka T3. I also have a Tikka CTR (.308), 3 friends that have CTR's in 6.5. No doubt the CTR is a great shooter and has two features I really like, the 10 rnd mag and the rail. It's heavy compared to the T3 I have, but sometimes I like to shoot way out there and like the heavier barrel. Based on your needs, I gave the nod to the T3. Mine is really my favorite to hunt with. It's light. Do yourself a favor and make it a fantastic rifle by putting it in Bell and Carlson Medalist stock with bottom metal from High Desert Rifle Works. Order a five rnd mag and for about $1000.00 you'll have a fine hunting rig. Be sure and sand the barrel channel on the stock so it's free floated all the way to the recoil lug. I did this and it's a great shooter. Here's some work from last week:

The new lightweight Kimbers are the worst gun I’ve ever handled. I hate them , but I would take a Savage over the Kimber
Might look into the Tikka Veil Wideland they have a lot of good going on

I’ve never been on the tikka bandwagon but I will say this. After trading into one, spending a day at the range, I’m a believer now.

I don't know about the $2000 Mountain Ascents. I have a $1100 Montana in 308 and Select Walnut in 257R and they are great rifles.

If something were to happen, and I lost all the guns I currently own (including my favorite that APR put together for me), I would be in line replacing everything with Tikkas.
I have never owned a Tikka, but I have shot a few, and have seen several in action. They just shoot.

Got in on a Tikka T3 closeout sale with a dealer in Kentucky couple years ago, and scored the very last Swede and in a Lightweight. Back then the shooting shoulder was still a major issue and I had thought the combination of Swede and 6.5x55 would allow me to use it as The Everyday Go To Shooter.....Au Contrair....Shot 3 rounds of PPU's off the bench, that brought tears to my eye's...that shoulder was that tender back then. Found a guy in Pennsylvania who'd been on line during the Sale and had scored a Swede DLX... Long Story Short we did a even up swap and everybody went home happy. The wood stock is darker than I would have liked but the wood grain is outstanding as expected. It's now wearing a 2-10x50 ZV5 Minox and going to get blooded on some Axis shortly I hope. Ron

Don’t have one yet, but I’ve done way too much research. The next gun I buy will be a Bergara B-14 Ridge Wilderness in 6.5 CM. For the $, it’s hard to beat unless you go Tikka. I like the classic Rem 700 look, weight of it and all the features. I just bought this gun and love it.

6.5CM is now all I shoot, but I have 3 different weapons for different uses. FWIW:
When I am in my stand and weight is not an issue, a GA Precision. Can shoot the butt end out of a gnat.
When I am moving around and want a lightweight nice gun, the Franchi Momentum Elite. Only shot pigs with it so far, but been a great rifle - light and accurate.
When I am after pigs and want a semi-auto option, I have a M&P AR-10 long range version. like any AR platform pretty much.

Looking for a good gun, I won’t be shooting 1000 yards but want somthing I can hunt with and not worry if I get a scratch or two. Looking for a good gun, I won’t be shooting 1000 yards but want somthing I can hunt with and not worry if I get a scratch or two. I was looking at a Bergara B14 hunter, but I couldn’t find one, So I picked up a Ruger in the go wild version. Not a bad rifle for beating around. Doesn’t shoot bad. If you would like to try it out let me know. I’m up in Kingwood.

Hunting, maybe 300 yards at max I just picked up a Ruger American Predator, the go-wild camo model, in 708 this summer and have been impressed with it's out of the box accuracy at the price-point. I have a few small critiques on the rifle, but the thing just shoots well. It will get some tinkering eventually, just because I can't leave anything alone, but for 300yds (likely further) and less I would not hesitate to use it. I already do, for just that purpose.

Looking to get a 6.5 creed more, what model rifle would you recommend? I shoot these , all fine rifles with good to excellent triggers, put them on your list of choices: Bergara Premier Ridge SAKO Tact Tikka CTR Tikka TAC A1 If you like a "balanced handling" rifle, get short barrel If you like a "feel" in your stock, get something that's textured, if you like to sit and throw lead downrange all day, get the heavier rifle that Bergara will surprise you
