I’m looking for 36” wide by 24” tall vertical sliding windows and I can’t find any. Does anyone have any help on where to look or have some built at? I’m about to make a winters project of building all new blinds to my own specs

Why not cut a piece of plexiglass and mount some 1/4 inch slats to slide it into.

Contact the people at Shadow Hunter deer blinds.....they have exactly what you are looking for.

Those may have to work but I was looking for glass. Those are pretty slick though, I’ll give them a call on Monday and see if they have any in stock.

Look for storm window manufacturers in your area. The ones that make the aluminum storm windows can make them. I found a home improvement place that I knew that did aluminum siding, then found one of the workmen. I explained what I wanted, how it wanted it made and he sent me to the storm window place. It took several trips ad detailed explanation of what I wanted. But I dealt with the front office, finally got to talk to the man who would make them. He knew exactly what I wanted, even had a better design than I had.

That place is now gone, if I do this again, I know to go to the back door first and talk to the people that will be making it.

You want a window that is 36"w x 24"h, and you want it to slide up and down? In my stand I have openings that are 36" and 48"w, but only 12"h. I used Deerview glass, hinged windows. Two were their standard size, two custom made by them to my specifications. They open up and latch out of the way. I've seen sliding windows in a lot of stands and eventually they become difficult to operate. Tracks get dirty, and as much as we like to think of ourselves as great carpenters, our builds eventually shift due to the conditions we put them in and openings bind. The really simple hinges and latches that come with the stuff Deerview provides will always work.

I put plexiglass in mind 22”x7” plexiglass is cut 24”x7.5”fold down and into the inside works great.
I use to build sliding windows but with fold down I have a bigger hole and no scratching.

All of our blinds have folding plexiglass windows now and thr ok but the new stands will have a 8” shooting rail below the window and curtains above them so folding windows simply won’t work and they will have to be vertical sliders. We hunt in bottom land thickets mostly we’re you can’t have many blind spots due to not wanting to be bobbing your head back and forth so I’m going to have two 36” windows butted up to each other on each side with a 2” brace splitting the windows. I knows it’s an odd set up but after years of fighting these set up and cussing them it’s time to try a new method. I’m building them out of 1 1/2” tubing so I’m not concerned with the stand shifting any and they will have floor entry doors to avoid having a door in the sides to add blind spots. I haven’t decided if I’m just going to buy trailers to mount them to or simply add axles to the the lower frames for easy movable set ups but that I still need to work out.

Thump, I understand exactly the reasons why you dont like the fold up or down. I think we are the only two on earth that agree on this. Now the 24” tall I couldn’t deal with.

Buy plexiglass at Lowes and plastic channel for the windows to slide up and down. The friction of the channel keeps the windows snug and they will slide but not fall.

Wilhunt, this doesn’t seem to work for me. Either too loose or too snug. No Goldilocks “just right” IME.

I agree with you on the 24” window height but I’m planning on painting the top 12” of the window black or putting camo wrap material on it so it’s simply covered only leaving the bottom 12”s for a viewing area that opens up. I make my own window curtains that mount above the windows so I can set the height of the covered viewing area with the windows opened up depending on the stand location and height.
I couldn’t handle a big 24” tall window either so I’m just trying to build some blinds that best suite our hunting situations. I’m looking to build blinds with very few blind spots for being able to see deer movement in thick wooded areas without having to constantly move your head back and forth exposing the blind areas yet giving me room for a shelf directly below the window. We typically only have a matter of seconds to spot the deer and make a decision on whether to shoot or not which I’m sure you can relate to and nobody seems to build a blind for this type of set up. I’m sure this seems odd to a lot of guys that hunt more open terrain but we primarily hunt in thick swampy river bottom land with little room for error and the matter of a few seconds makes a huge difference in the hunts outcome.

Ive contacted a company that builds custom windows so I’m waiting to hear back from them this week, if it’s not doable I’ll have to come up with a plan b lol but I’ll figure something out, I’m looking for a 6’X6’ blind that only has 2-4”s of of blind spots per side with a bottom door entry mounted on a trailer or just adding an axle to the bottom of it for moving them around easily and a floor height of 6-7 feet to keep them out of the water.

I’ll update this when I figure it out and add some pics of the end product,,

I follow you on all, but don’t see the need for the 24” height unless you shoot so quick you want to stick gun out window without the worry of bumping a small window.
I like shelves under windows to put stuff on but also if designed right you can use shelves to rest right elbow/side on. You can also go farther with that idea and run 2x4s from shelf to shelf(or window ledge) to use for same purpose and even to put under rifle butt like a back bag. I basically can set the board cockeyed and kinda lay whole chest over it to lock in. Square blind(or round) really help with that concept. If you are that rushed on shots and don’t shoot long then the extra “rest” stuff may be moot.
Also, I’ve found 5.5’ x 5.5’ is better than 6’.

You have to go with a 24” window so the bottom part has 12”s to raise up into otherwise it’s not a sliding window lol,
