Nueces county 1st and 2nd weekend.

Nice storm wigeon!! Hope that is getting mounted. Also, I've seen a couple other surf scoters taken this year in that area of the coast.

Saw a scoter get killed in the back of Baffin in the early 2000s. I've seen more odd species get killed when hunting open bays. I killed a few Goldeneye a couple of years ago in Matagorda bay.

Been hearing more and more people who have knocked down Scoters throughout the coastal bend over the years, more common than I had first thought. This was actually in San Patricio, over Rockport way. Still waiting to check that golden eye box.

We throttled them on the opener. Now my section of the coast is a ghost town. I am going to spend this upcoming weekend at the coast and not even taking a shotgun. I am trading it for an air hammer. Got to make hay while the sun is shining.

We've had a couple of good ones.
Had a good solo hunt, it's just nice getting out there, it's not all about making piles, even though piles can be fun.

2 man limit in 30 minutes this morning. Pintail. Gadwald. Teal, shovelers public

Another 2 man limit in one hour. Public land. Shovelers, pintails, teal, gadwalds. Mallards in area, but not our decoys.

We did get the first green head of the year. Still lots of wood ducks. Have not seen a single teal yet which is odd.
Hunted Sunday in a thong and flip flops… Saw a few groups but none wanted to play the game.

Haven't got to go as much as I'd like but killing and seeing nice numbers when I have gone.

Going to get in at least one hunt this week. Should be good..

I’m not for sure. Spent 3 days in Mitchell County at our lease and nothing. My lease has a feeder creek that winds up flowing into Lake Colorado City.
This dried creek bed has been dry for 3 years until this year. It’s waist deep across from side to side.
I’m thinking that the ducks are not used to flying in there because of no water the last 2 1/2 years or the ducks are not down here yet.
What are y’all’s thoughts?

Slow morning today for me. Me and a buddy killed 4 woodies. Not many big ducks flying. Did seed see a few gadwall on a tank on the way out. Don’t think many big ducks have gotten here yet.

This was Navarro county. Private land.

Had 3 ringnecks come in and a couple of big ducks passing by Saturday morning west of Bonham - nothing whatsoever flying in our area. Heard two groups of 2 shots all morning long. Still need some hard freezes up north I think.

I was chasing whitetail and Muley’s… But the boys got em good Saturday am.

Well damn Rocky, no wonder Im not seeing any teal!
