Does any one know what happened to Taxidermy America in Pinehurst? Their phone number is disconnected and the shop is now another business. They have two deer from the ranch last year (a 175" and 190's") that we are trying to track down.

Tried all of those and have left his wife a message. Found his home address as well. Have called the game warden but the one I talked to wasn't much help.

If stollen or "illegally gained" antlers crossed state lines the Lacey Act says differently.

I agree with the above on the Lacey Act. Have you contacted a federal GW and or US Fish/ Wildlife?

Is the any kind of "national" taxidermy association that you can contact for help, i.e., unethical business practices?

I had the same happen to me with a guy out of Pflugerville. I found the guys new address and phone number but he wouldn't return my call. The Taxi had my two young son's first deer that i had paid good money for on a weekend hunt. I informed the County DA and he told me he'd call me back. Within a day the DA called me back and the Taxi called me the same day saying "sorry for the mixup" I'll have your mounts done this month and he did. Worth a try to give the DA's office a call. Especially if he lives in a small county.

We got the heads and hides back! Another taxidermist that had prior dealings with them was able to help. Still out the deposits but not all is lost.
