Remington footprint action, are their barrels good? Kinda base but if they shoot , I would take a closer look.
Anyone own a HOWA ? Hows it shoot?

Does it have a Remington footprint? I thought they were Weatherby Vanguard, Smith & Wesson, Howa, etc. I didn’t know they had the Remington footprint.

They are Not a Remington footprint.
A little heavy, but they are shooters.

Had one in 7mm RM. Bought it back in the early 90’s and put a cheap Tasso scope on it (was all I could afford when I was 13). Sold it a few years ago. Killed plenty of animals with it. Shot pretty good with factory loads ~1”. Synthetic stock was what you’d expect, not a hollow piece of plastic but nothing to brag about either. Trigger was decent and action was not bad. I wouldn’t hesitate owning another.

Definitely not a Rem clone. Howa makes the Vanguard so, yes, their the same. I have a mini action in 6.5Grendel. Got it as a barreled action and let my boy choose the stock. It was a little work getting it to shoot good but we are up and running now. It's sub MOA and fun. It's a poor man's rifle Buzz, I don't think you'd like it. I think you'd sell it off.

The barrel on my Vanguard has a pressure post rather than a free-floated barrel, the impact on accuracy being a source of much debate by some forum members. Weatherby states the barrel on the Vanguard is more accurate with the pressure post and will void the accuracy guarantee if the barrel is modified in any way.
My Vanguard, a Deluxe Sporter (.270) that Weatherby offered for just a short time, is more accurate than any of the rifles I own that have free floated barrels. Walmart and a couple of the larger sporting goods retailers offered the Deluxe Sporter for just a short time. It looks very much like Weatherby's Deluxe model with a high gloss walnut stock and bluing but without some trim pieces found on the Deluxe model that retails for about 50% more. Although they had a relatively short production run, I have seen them on the resale market from time to time. Soon after Weatherby discontinued the model, Walmart put them on sale for just under $400 after an initial price of just under $600. It's probably the heavily discounted models that owners are looking to flip for a profit.

I have a Howa 1500 in 25-06 and am really happy with the accuracy. The other feedback that folks have provided is spot on.

Metric threads...most wouldn't care or even know, I do. They tend to shoot though.

I believe the pressure post is on the stock, not the barrel. Since you have participated in the debates you mention, (not to mention owning one), you should know that.

I've had a couple over the years, one as a weatherby, the other was a Smith & Wesson that I'm pretty sure was a howa if I remember right but it's been a long time ago. The one thing I do remember is they both shot real well. I would buy another

Like others have said not a remington foot print, but you can, or at least on the first series vanguards you could use remington basses for a 700.

I have three. They shoot great. Workhorse type actions but they are solid.

Had to dig a little to drum up a negative response on a comment made concerning an otherwise excellent rifle and design. Since it's the barrel that matters most in sending the bullet on it's trajectory, making it the point of reference is most appropriate.

To the point of making completely false statements? Sorry, try again. Free floated stock or free floated barrel, same applies with the pressure post design. Or perhaps we should argue is it a water heater or a hot water heater since both heat water.

Oh really? Please explain what a stock could be free floated from? The hole is getting deeper.

Metric threads...most wouldn't care or even know, I do. Yep, certainly something to consider if you plan to have a new barrel "spun up" (just for you Buzz). Most smiths will tell you, NO.
