Thus guy showed up recently. 1000 acres low fence Sterling County no protein. I've already taken a nice 140 class 10. Passed this guy due to only one tag left and it being so early. What do you experienced guys say in regards to age and antlers? Thanks! [Linked Image]

Old and big and on the decline. Might as well cull him.

Old man right there. I would be proud of him or content with giving the geezer a pass.

Take him if you want him, pass if you don't. He's too old to have any effect on the herd and his horns are going downhill.

Looks like he has aged well, good condition. He'd be on my shoot list if I were looking for things to shoot.

Agree with all of the above posts regarding age. It may be a good idea to take him before he really starts going down hill.
His antlers are still impressive and would make a quite nice euro.

Nothing wrong with shooting that deer, but if you're looking for a new personal best, keep hunting. 125 or so I'd say.

looks old for sure and probably isn't going to get any bigger because he's already pretty mature. antlers may stay same or go the other way in future years. unless you think you're still hunting for something bigger or unless you just don't want to eat anymore deer. he looks like a nice mature age deer for management to me. I've shot plenty of management type deer that didn't look that good....after having already shot a nicer one or on a year where it wasn't my turn or there weren't any other nicer ones we were seeing that were making the age parameters. he's a great looking deer.

I’m just tossing this out thr, if I make it to a rip old age I hope some of you dingle berries aren’t on me pointing thr trigger rofl At some point the old guys simply get a pass with me. If they can beat me and Mother Nature then they win the prize of living till the real end. It’s not like he’s out breeding 90% of the doe’s, he simply wants to read a book and be left alone lol

Why not if he doesn't have a better mature buck on camera?
I'd rather kill this deer than a young 140+ any day.

Just my $.02

Just curious if you have any rules against you shooting a second “Trophy”?
And would this buck be classified as a Trophy for y’all?
I’m just always curious how other lease handle stuff like that.
