Grew up hunting in South Louisiana and loved every minute in the outdoors. I moved to Texas in 2007 and have been teaching and coaching highschool basketball and did not have the time to hunt. I’m at a place in my life where im ready to start back doing something I love and learn more about skinning my own animals and hunting clubs, I also have a lot of African American students who would love to learn about hunting but they only see limited wildlife growing up in the city, and the wildlife you do see, most don’t associate with consumption. Most city kids have a healthy fear of wild animals and a lack of respect for their habitat at the same time. Are there and programs that will take them out on their first hunt. Present opportunities to introduce them to learning about land, plants and water, and the importance of sustainability and conservation and how it effects their own environments. Are there any good places to hunt deer and hogs in DFW area or a few hours away. Just trying to figure out the Hunting layout in Texas

I can’t elaborate right now but suggest you call TWA(Texas Wildlife Association). Others should chime in with some suggestions.
Also, with you being in education you should ask TWA about their Conservation Legacy program. They help bring outdoor related education programs to public schools.

Keep your gratitude higher than your expectations. RWH

The Texas Youth Hunting Program is right up your alley. Not only do they put on hunts, they teach the kids all kinds of outdoor stuff. They are a great organization.
