This place where the wife and I live is a tiny community of maybe 6 or 7 families. Probably a bit of a stretch to call it a community. Everybody knows everybody and knows a lot about everybody’s business. A friendly place and we all keep an eye out for the safety of our neighbors. The only non-locals are a bunch of guys that have a hunting camp about a mile north. We only see them during hunting season. They don’t mingle with us and don’t appear to want us visiting. We tried to be friendly, offering coffee or beer, but we stay away now. Well, the night before opening day, there was an ambulance and a fire truck on the road by the hunting camp. None of us ‘locals’ can find out what happened, but it must have been bad. Opening morning there were no cars, trucks, or people at the camp, and we haven’t seen anyone there since. I hope nobody died.

Any suggestions on how to get info on this? Would the local hospital share info with non family?

Not being a lawyer, I have no profit motive. We just would like to know, even if it isn’t any of our business, which it isn’t. grin

I have never seen a rural area where the details of something like that could remain secret for long.

You do you. Don't worry about something that already happened.

L.E. Fire/EMS did their job, that's that.

And, it very well could have been no big deal. Lots of agencies (mine included) go by the Nathan Bedford Forrest motto. "Show up the first-est with the most-est. We send engine, ambulance, and PD on lots of calls that really didn't end up needing that many resources.

Consult HIPPA and you’ll find the answer

If you really live in the country, you should know the VFD fire chief. I'd ask him if you really think you should know.

It just comes down to “I’d like to know”. At first, it was concern for the neighbors, and everybody called everybody until it was apparent that we were all Ok. Now we all wonder about what really did happen.

The hunting camp guys are mostly all from the north side of Houston, as they told me years ago. There is absolutely no connection between any of them and any of us, so there’s no one to call or ask.

The next time I see people at the camp, I’ll stop and ask.

It's none of your business. You sound like the Mrs. Kravitz of hunting camp.

Also the local sheriff if y'all have one!
If they don't know, or won't tell you, and nobody has come around warning you of illegal activity then maybe someone got sick and it's a personal matter.
You stop by uninvited asking questions, you may not be greeted very kindly!

Oh believe me...they don't need 'details'. In less than a week....some 'supposed' story will circulate and become all the facts/details needed.

There is nothing more rampant than small town/community Rumor/Hearsay/Supposition.

A few months before we sold our old house there were a bunch of cops and ambulances at a house that backed up to ours, we always wondered what it was but never found out. We didn't really get along with the people but kept it civil. After selling it we met the buyer to get some pictures we had missed in packing. They asked about some of the neighbors and mentioned that the one neighbor they had talked to told them the girlfriend of the guys house who backed up to theirs had committed suicide in the house right in line with when the cops were all there.

So, you're just bored and nosey?

Wish I had time to worry about what strangers are doing. If they are off my land, and leaving me alone, I don't give a chit.

Im sure you get to see a lot of it, im not jealous of that. I heard the shot, but in the country thought little of it and the cops didnt show till hours later. So glad we moved!

who cares?

I know a little about nosy neighbors. Years ago my wife and I were doing some work along the fence line. My dogs alerted to something on the neighbors side, crossed the fence, and headed towards it barking the whole way. As a lady came out from behind a tree saying, "it's just me", I called my dogs back. That was over 15 years ago and I won't soon forget that she was spying and nosy. Sounds like you are about to be another one of those ladies.

If she'd walk right out and said, "Hi, watcha doing", I prolly would have forgotten the encounter by now.

Some people in the country shouldn't be in the country. Solitude drives them crazy and they will talk your ear off if you say hello. rofl

I’m not bored, but I am interested in what happened. Don’t try to tell me that most of you wouldn’t be interested. Well, you can tell me, but I won’t believe you.

Hopefully Fireman is right about having the ambulance there but not needed. That’s probably the situation.

Your simply an attention whore needing your curiosity filled when it’s non of your business, your the modern day nosey Karen of the 21st century. When you approach thr camp after you’ve clearly stated their not interested in you coming around and they knock your teeth out you will be on here right afterwards complaining about how you were mistreated. If they do inform you of what happened you will also be on here stating what it was soon afterwards yet we wonder why people are so freaking aggressive towards dumb asses like you trying to get into business that’s non of yours. You have to be the worst busy body on here talking non stop non sense about things you have no business talking about. Your probably a great guy but your the one guy on here I can always expect to talk [censored] about things a real man shouldn’t be talking about like non stop family drama and now the neighbors issues.

If they wanted you to know I’m sure they would have dropped by afterwards and brought you a fruit basket over to fill you in on what happened and how you could really help out.

Let’s be real here, you can’t keep a damn thing quiet so it may be a month from now but it will most definitely come out eventually.

One day you will find the right one and you will learn your lesson, country folks move to the country for a reason to avoid people like you. You sound like you need to live in down town Austin but you will figure it out eventually. Your handle should be “The Drama King”

No, I would not be interested.

Same as if I pass a car wreck off duty, I see people standing outside the vehicles, looking like they're alright, and I go about my day. Not my problem, not my business. I've seen all the incidents I care to see, and don't need extra ones for curiosity sake. I ain't curious. In the rare event something is going down, no L.E. or FD is there, and someone needs help, I will help, and have several times.

In your case what is knowing going to change anything? Pretty much the same scenario as rubber neckers creating a traffic jam, just so they can see wrecked cars. Do the rubber neckers have an Engine, Ambulance and patrol car? No, so get the F outta the way and let the professionals do their jobs.
