What a busted morning. I had ordered a bunch of Cherry and Walnut a while back, and they were going to truck deliver it. But days passed with no delivery. I was up in my tall blind this morning, opening morning, having been there since about 5:45, and about 7:30 I see a big truck coming this way. From that blind I can see some of the road he used. Seriously….not today…not right now. But yes, so I hustle back to the house and there he is. Grump grump grump!

And by the way, Cherry is pretty cheap per board foot, but Walnut is really expensive.

If I thought the rut was on, I’d go back to the blind, but I don’t think it is yet. I may go anyway. Got coffee in the thermos, and a good book.

Hope your morning was better than mine.

That's how it works. I'm lining plumbers out from the blind this morning, but that's okay because I can't see 25 yards in front of me from the dang ground steaming in the sun

Thanks for the cherry wood tip. I am starting a remodel and need some plank lumber. Good luck hunting, I was going to be out today down in Frio county but something came up hopefully later this week.

Red Cloud, I got the wood from Dakota Premium Hardwoods in Waco, but they ship from Dallas. They have several locations. I was shocked at the diff in price between Cherry and Walnut, but due to demands from the wife, I had to buy the Walnut.

I did go back to the stand. Shot a coyote (see varmint section) and watched a real sleek fat 6 point eat every kernel of corn thrown by my feeder. Took him an hour.
