I’ve been hunting a place that is about 80 miles one way. Schedule hasn’t lined up to allow for a morning and evening sit. Just over an hour drive, which is about my limit when it comes to a single hunt.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I used to leave after work and drive about 10 hours all night from ETx to Ft Stockton to hunt at daylight. Hunt all day and the next then drive all night in time to work Monday morning. That’s been decades ago and it’s doubtful I would do it again.

I've driven an hour & forty five minutes one way too many times to remember for one sit in Duval County.

Have driven 2 1/2 hrs many times from Brownsville to the lease in Starr County for a sit.

2 Seasons ago I drove 8-9 hrs one way from Houston to the lease SE of Hebbronville. Be loaded up & drive down after work on Friday night, then drive back Sunday. Did this every single weekend during the months of Nov, Dec, Jan, & early Feb except for 2 weekends. The driving 16-18 hrs every weekend started to get old in Jan, but it was worth it and I enjoyed every weekend on that place. I'd do it again right now.

For the last 10 years, it has been 75 miles from driveway to the gate.

You're describing a day hunt and I commonly do the 2 hour ea. way to my place for it. Wouldn't do more than 3 hours ea. way to do it though.

I commute 70-90 minutes each way to hunt 3 times a week. My general rule for hunting is that I don't want my overall commute time to be longer than my hunting time. However, I have broken the rule a few times and traveled 4-4.5 hours each way to hunt with a buddy.

Leaving at 4am I can be from my porch to my gate in 1:50. I usually stop to grab some sausage rolls at a 24hr QT which adds about 10min. I’ve done that and driven back after the morning hunt plenty of times.

no I'm describing a single sit. Not a drive up and stay all day and sit morning and evening.

I'm talking about a single sit lasting from 2-3 hours

For a single hunt, maybe 2 hours, depending on what the target is and what the level of success purports to be.

Back in the 80's I hunted on a lease that was 110 miles from where I was living at the time. I drove up every afternoon after I got done with work to hunt for 1-2 hrs till dark for 14 days in a row. I now drive half that to hunt for an evening hunt or sometimes just for a morning hunt.

Depends on what kind of property it is and what the hunting prospects were.

I can think of places I wouldn't drive across the street to hunt on. Others I'd drive 5-6 hrs for a chance.

I have done the 3 hour drive many times and wound up with a half day hunt or hunt the day and drive home. These days I walk about 60 yards from the back door and hunt, or drive an hour to the other place.

Drive for deer is zero unless I want a change of scenery. Than occasionally I'll drive 20 minutes. For bear 45 minutes.

I drove 500 miles one way to kill a Coues buck in AZ. I was in the unit for 4 hours of daylight before I killed him.
