Heading out for opening day and the week. Just wondering if this cold front has gotten started yet?
If I'm not hunting something I must be dead.

Don't hunt there anymore, but did for years and under normal conditions the rut in Eastland always kicked off around the 7th of November.
Cabin rental in Pagosa Springs, Co. Sleeps 10, If interested please PM me.

This cooler wet weather will get the bucks moving and checking the does for sure. If it warms back up they may back off for a few days. Good luck.

Do a little rattling and try a grunt call. Timing may be right for some early season success. Nothing more fun than to call in a buck and kill it.

I have watched bucks breeding does as early as the middle of October in Eastland county and by the first week of November mature bucks chasing and tending does. Some years that activity is happening the last week of October others the first week of November but in 20 years of hunting there that is what I have seen. Rattling, buck grunt and doe estrus calls have worked very well during that time for me. Oldest buck I have killed there was trailing a scent trail I had put down on my way to the stand (my only 12pt to date counting the 2 stickers).
lf the saying "Liar, Liar your pants on fire" were true Mainstream news might be fun to watch

I've been hunting Eastland county for over 20 years now. The rut starts the last week of October to the first week of November. The bucks should be pushing hard this weekend. If you see does get ready because it can happen quickly! Stay on the edge of your seat and good luck

I hunt right on the border of Eastland/Brown and I have them chasing. Actually had it last night. Saturday morning will still be cold, and I expect very nice. When it hits 70 in the evening things may die down a bit, but when the rut is on..........I'll be in the woods.

I drove from Weatherford to Abilene last night and counted 8 dead bucks on 20 - mostly little guys but definitely seem to be on the move.

Lot more bucks in the ditches after dark the last 7 days now than the last 3 weeks. Seen a couple dead on the road, but that will increase over the next month or two. This is in Gillespie, Mason and McCulloch counties. Scrape and rub activity has greatly increased also.

The last two weeks or so our number of dead deer on road sides shot through the roof. Also a lot more scrape/rubs. My trail cam pictures have shots of bucks coming in nose down and does hauling ace in west/northwest wilson county.

Thank y'all for the heads up. I really appreciate the info and it sounds like it is going to be a exciting weekend/week. Good luck to all going out this weekend. God bless and be safe.
