I decided to go ahead and put together a solar system out on my small farm to run tools out of my shipping container. I did a bunch of research and ordered the components.

This is what I have put together so far - with a 3000w, 50 amp inverter.

Next I need to set up the solar panels. I'll need to put in some steel posts and then build the mounting structure.

I plan to have 8 100w panels. 4 in series and then combine the 2 sets of 4 in parallel for 90w 11 amps to the solar charge controller.

Very cool! Good job Steve.

I don't know if you got the panels or not yet, but there were some on CL down in the Dallas area that were taken off a military base in FL for pretty cheap.

I did some research on the manufacture and they seem to be really good panels. Just slightly used.

I already have the panels but could always add more.. I'll have to see if they are still available

Thanks Kyle

That's probably the best rig like that I have seen. Most folks try to half a** it.

We all need to practice Whoa more.

Thanks.. I did a lot of research to make sure I had all the right gauge wires and fuses. There's lots of info for how to set this up but most are for much larger systems. The Battle Born staff was helpful but they are not in the business of installing the systems. I would not recommend doing this yourself if you do not have any electrical experience.

Awesome work Steve. I considered a solar setup for when I build my shipping container camper, but haven’t spent a ton of time researching it. How much run time do you think you’ll get off that setup and what will it run? I’m hoping to be able to run a 110v window unit with AC & Heat.

That’s exactly what I’m looking to run with this setup. I just finished the solar panels and will test it within electrical heater and lights next

Getting great power from the panels so looks like it should handle the load. I may add one more battery to be on the safe side

Impressive setup. Heating usually takes 1500 watts. That’s a lot.

Good job. Did one similar, but with only 2 batts. Was going to go bigger but evaluated costs and was cheaper to bury cable and connect to grid. Now if
Your not within 1/2 mile everything changes
