This guy showed up on our lease last year during the season. We put him on the no shoot list. Apparently he likes his new home. He is almost tame. I walked within 5 yards of him spreading corn. He does not run from vehicles. First pic is last year. Second pic is from Sunday. Really nice buck for his age, but one buck is not going to change the genetics of the deer in that area. Nice to watch him grow though.

So people want to know, is he on the do not shoot list again this year? Let's hope so. He would be perpetually on my no shoot list.... owing to his tameness, not because of antler growth or contribution to the gene pool. And although a single buck won't/can't change the genetics of the local herd, it doesn't hurt either. Fact is, most places....if the deer have good nutrition and are allowed to reach maturity, the vast majority will develop into something that most folks would be happy to take.
