Mine let me down on youth weekend. Both are going to Halloween parties tonight. I’m picking the oldest up in the morning to deer hunt but the youngest boy is staying in town to trick or treat with his buddy’s Sunday night. Cooking Momma a steak and corn on the grill. We'll all have a good time!

First post not sure how to get the picture to upload/show. Anyways ... He harvested a Doe in Navarro County this morning at 7:40. It’s his second deer taken since he started hunting last season. Shot was about 100 yards with a Savage Youth 243. After the shot and pics taken he learned that “new gun” he has never seen was actually his!! First deer rifle and a right of passage this morning for my little man!! Also that “old” 4-wheeler was mine from childhood. Used it to get my first deer taken some 30+ years ago as a youngin.

Congrats to the young man on a fine doe I bet the revelling of the new rifle was the cherry on top
Congrats to the younguns! Lonestar 80 and Davis300, it is always gratifying to see the big smiles on these kids after their first or one of their first deer taken.
I’m taking the neighbor’s son out this afternoon. He’s 15 and has never killed a buck. The neighbor, under threat of death from his wife, has to take his step-grandkids to town to get candy. The idea is for the kid to get a buck with a nice rack. Plans are always good, but the rut hasn’t fired up here yet, so all we’ll see is probably does. But, maybe a pig or coyote will show up. Ya never know…
