I agree but there are those that don't have a brain. They have to learn the hard way!!

Stole my thunder. It all depends on where they TRY to come in and where I am at the time. Their first problem will getting close enough to the house without the Yorkie hearing them, them a deranged Jack Russell takes over. I'll just clean up what's left.

Being close to the border today, you don't leave the house without a gun. In the house you always stay close to a gun. Inside, I have a couple of Shockwaves with # 4 Buck placed where they are easy to get to. Outside, I carry a twice barrel carbine again loaded with buck. I have had to point it at some aggressive OTM's out back in a pasture and fortunately they understood what it meant and left and rather quickly too. My sister texted me a few minutes ago. Said one of her dogs was acting rather strange and kept alerting at the door. Said her guns were ready!!

Be safe but be ready..

Keep what you are comfortable with. That said, if it ever came to it, what you keep will be kept. I agree with the keep it cheap/replaceable as long as it functions and you're comfortable. I wouldn't be using a Form 1 lower as a HD tool. Not only will it disappear but the civil suit will surely bring it up and villainize you

That's why 99% of them are during the day when people are work and school and they ring the doorbell and knock loudly to make sure nobody is home just because of all the armed homeowners. I've interrogated hundreds of them and they do everything they can do to make sure nobody is in the home. Drug rip home invasions are a different story, but if you're not selling weed, you likely don't need to worry about a night time burglary of a habitation.

That is my understanding.

My new home is very rural, 250 yards from the road. I wear a pistol all day, every day no matter what. No telling when a meth head will just be crazy enough to try it in the day time.

If they somehow manage get past her, which I honestly really doubt, they somehow bought themselves a few extra seconds of life.

If that were to actually happen I have several options depending on which room I am in.

First gun I’d grab is a Glock 42, that’s just to ensure I get the the AR or 870. After those it would be a Tac-14, P320, P226… then whatever else I can find

I’m almost the exact opposite of that quote. Rifle to clear, pistol for when the rifle runs dry, shotgun as a last ditch effort to get more rifle ammo. And in my house I don’t need light, stealth is key, poor light discipline tells them where you are, and what your plan is.

Don't have poor light discipline and it is a moot point lol. I also keep lights on in the house 24 hours a day, it is never even close to being completely dark. I want to be 100% sure I don't "light up" a friendly.

This will get me to my "rifle" but probably will not be needed,

That is what everyone told me after I had a home invasion last spring. But it seems that the young criminals haven't learned that yet, or more likely just don't care whether they are alive or not. If you have a home invasion, you will learn how ready you were.

My daughter summed it up well: "It takes a special kind of stupid to crawl through a window in Texas with the alarm going off."
