My doctor didnt tell me till AFTER the operation ----------------- you will NEVER be able to kneel on the knee. I had one replaced,, I can improvise with the other knee ------ if I had had both replaced it would pose major problems for me. And at some point I will have to get the second one replaced and it will be a major problem.

I had both done 4 years ago now. Yes, you lose a little flexibility, and kneeling on a hard or firm surface feels like kneeling down on gravel. If I work on sprinklers, etc I just sit down on my butt now. I'll glady trade that for the 35 years of knee pain I had. Today I have none. Best of luck to you.

Yeppers, you won’t be kneeling down on double replacements at all. You simply have to adapt and overcome,,, I sit on my butt most of the time but I generally keep a lot of milk crates around to sit on when needed as well. You get adjusted to it pretty quick so it’s not a big deal unless mama likes rough doggie style boom boom and then your in trouble rofl

Same here, although I only had one knee replaced and I can kneel on it. It just gets uncomfortable pretty quickly. The doc didn't mention it prior to surgery, probably because he knew it wasn't important. My OEM knee was damaged beyond repair, and I needed a new knee. Not being able to kneel afterwards wasn't really part of the equation.

I have two unwritten rules:
1.
2.

I'm 4 weeks in on my first replacement. My Rehab Gal just left, she looked at my scar and said it looked great, my range of motion was where she wanted it. I go for my post op Thursday. She said they will X-ray it to see how it is healing.

I will get 4 more weeks of exercises. She said my knee is 50% healed. 4 more weeks of taking it easy. I'm going deer hunting in three weeks. Luckily my buddy said he would take care of my deer, skinning, , dragging, etc. We can drive right up to the blinds and scatter some Big N J out. Deer love that chit.

Sorry got off topic. I can see where the knee will NEVER be like it was when I was 30 but its already MUCH better than it was before surgery.

Buzz, good to know you're healing up well. I'm no Dr., but your knee will likely be healing for the better part of a full year. You don't do a joint amputation and heal up in two months.

Have had one full knee replacement bout 14 yes ago ...still hurts if I try to kneel on it. Get a good set of knee pads and it will help. Went to a Ranger game that next year and didn't know if they were going to let me in..They ran a hand held scanner around me and it kept going off Told them it was the titanium in my knee and they wanted to argue bout it

If I had known then (Dec 2020) what I know now I would have just lived with the pain. Now I sit here after 2 surgeries in 3 months and still on antibiotics and my knee hurts worse now than before and now my other knee is going out because of all the weight displacement over the last 10 months, And I can't get on my knees without some padding. And no, the surgeon said nothing about never kneeling again.

Yea...I'm bitter!

Man, I'm sorry to hear this Jim. I hope there is something you can do. I would be heartbroken too having gone through it if it made it worse. I better not jinx myself.

Jraider, I think you are correct up
