You take a .300 Win Mag. You lose the belt, you lose some of the taper of the body, you make the shoulder 30°, you gain case capacity.

To me, it is some tweaks to what could be improved to the .300 Win Mag. Eventually it should take it over. Though there are so many 300 Win Mag rifles out there, and millions of pieces of brass, it will take decades.

The prc is also got more free bore and usually is a 1:9 twist so it’s more or less geared towards 220 grain and heavier bullets. I almost bought one, but with the lack of brass it’s hard to justify.

Ammo, re-loading components are preventing this caliber from flourishing, like so many others. I imagine its a solid killer at distance and ELR capable caliber

Where does it fall inline with the 30 Nosler and your 300RUM?

30 Nosler 89.8
28 Nosler 93.8

Hence why you see a few 30-28 Noslers...they want the added capacity. My opinion, someone screwed up at Nosler...that was dumb.

I agree with Jason... The 300 PRC will eventually take over. There isn't much NOT to like... I have 2. Shot mine this weekend (my heavy one) ay 2000 yards, 2nd round impact. Went 5/6 after that.

What twist rate are you using for the 250s?

I've been chasing mule deer with a bow like a damn fool. I'm ready for rifle season.

The 300 PRC would NEVER be able to over take the 300 Win Mag. It is a proprietary round to Hornady, and maybe only one or two other "big" companies make ammo for it. It has become a cartridge very difficult to find brass and ammo for, and many shooters do not buy a firearm chambered in the 300 PRC for this reason. Is it a better round than a Win Mag, yes. Will it over take the win mag, no way, not even close.

If hornady marketed it like the creedmoor, it would take over in short fashion!
BTW, good to see you back.

.300 PRC introduced SHOT show 2019

6.5 Creedmoor introduced 2007

I remember shooting matches in 2010, guy asked me what I was shooting, I say a "two sixty". I ask him what he's shooting. He says a "six five Creedmoor". I say "a what?"

Today, how many 6.5mm bores are chambered in .260 Rem (to go on a short action .473" bolt face) and how many are chambered in 6.5 Creedmoors? Years and years went by and in order to have a rifle chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor it had to be custom built. Not anymore. Probably more likely to have to have a .260 Rem custom built to get what you want, if it's chambered in a .260 Rem just to be different and burn up one more grain of powder.

Today; Hornady, Federal, Winchester, Peterson, Alpha, Lapua, ADG and others build 6.5 Creedmoor brass. It has been a SAAMI cartridge for obly 14 years.

.300 PRC is only two years old. But already mass production rifles are being built chambered in it. .300 Win Mag will go the way of the .260 Rem.
