Today I drove our Kubota RTV, then visited some family and drove their CanAm 1000 and Polaris Ranger. I thought the latter two would be quieter than my Kubota. Nope. They were quite loud. I was not impressed at all. Maybe the Honda would be quieter.

My can am HD 8 is pretty dang quiet

About 1/4" of rhino liner on the metal bed floor of any of them makes a ton of difference.

Honda and mule pro are quieter. My issue with kubota is cab size and suspension, other then that they are good machine.

I rode in one three weeks ago. While its an improvement over their old rear ends, it's doesn't hold a candle to Can Am, Polaris or Mule Pro. It's not designed too. With that said some people may not need the suspension travel of the other machines, but some do. I definitely under stand not needing more suspension travel. I'm just one that does, as I even added after market to my mule to make it better

Kubota is an excellent machine and if your riding thru the pasture it’s fine.

Hey everyone's experience is different - I have owned 3 Polaris and 2 Kubotas - I used mine in south texas - mostly flat but some pretty rough senderos etc and I will take my Kubota over the Polaris - No worries - Ford or Chevy? It is all good

I currently own five kubota RTVs, a mule pro Fxt, and a Honda pioneer. The Kubotas are the newer ones with independent suspension.

The Kubotas are tanks. We beat the crap out of them and go through all kinds of rough terrain often starting them at sunrise and not turning them off until dark. I am amazed how reliable they are. They just keep going. The downsides are they ride rough, are slow, and heavy which means they sink and get stuck easily.

The mule and Honda have really nice rides, will go as fast as you want, and are just more comfortable but they have a lot of plastic and won’t hold up the abuse the Kubotas do. They also use significantly more fuel than the diesel kubota does.

For work I love the Kubotas it for other things I prefer other options. Having multiple machines I have seen time and time again situations where the mule will go through with ease and the kubota can’t make it.

As much as I like my Kubota, no way will I ever take it in deep mud again. Even with aggressive mud tires, the ground clearance is low, and the Kubota weighs (going on memory) right at a ton.

Some years ago I had the littlest granddaughter driving the Kubota after a big rain. She was so little she had to stand to drive, while I handled the fuel and brake. Was going great till she swerved suddenly into a ditch of soupy mud. And there we stayed till the tractor came to get us. The Kubota is not a mud machine, though it is a terrific work machine.

As for the canAm and Polaris I drove a couple of days ago, I drove them again a time or two. Of the two, I much prefer the Polaris, and the Kubota over both. If I couldn’t have the Kubota, I know I like the high end Mules, and I’d like to drive a Honda.

The best side by sides are quiet as all get out. They have four doors, heating, A/C, can get through anything, are easy to drive and can hail lots. They call them Tacomas. Used good ones cost less than new fangled Can-ams, Rangers and Mules.

After I wrote that last comment, I realized that I was really just deciding what side by side fits my needs best. And my needs are for a Kubota type machine. If I needed to climb mountains or go fast, the Kubota isn’t what I’d need. I spent the weekend in Felsenthal, Arkansas, and everybody had a side by side (at least it seemed that way), and nobody went slow and it seemed that all the machines had aggressive mud tires and a heavy coat of mud. My Kubota would probably be a bit out of place there.

The happy medium would be the diesel mule.

agree - it depends on where you are and the type of use you have for a side by side - I will say after I owned 3 Polaris Ranger 6x6 over the years I was the quality decrease with each one - then I had a warranty issue that Polaris would not honor and basically ignored - so I switched to Kubota

My mule is way, way smoother riding than the Kubota the previous owners of our land had. It also shifts smoother in and out of 2wd/4wd. The Kubota diesel engines last forever and the RTV they had was a very nice machine though.

what year was the Kubota? They improved the suspension by a bunch in recent models

I have a good friend who's a Houndsman in NM, He is a tacoma guy. He just got a new one. He also bought a Can Am HD10 crew. He put 4k mikes in his HD10 first year and a half. Guess he got tired of fixing front ends on the Tacoma....

How many front axles have you replaced on the mule? Asking for a friend..........

Interesting read since I just left Polaris due to the decrease in their workmanship and quality. I put an engine in my 2011 single seater, then upper A frame bolt breakage, driver side twice in 11 months on a crew. That was enough. Just picked up a Can AM HD 10 and will put it through its paces. I already like the ride better. Not sure about everything being metric yet....time will tell but so far so good.

You will like the CanAm. Bombardier is a very large and successful company that has been around many years. We used to put bucket trucks and digger derricks on their massive articulated axle vehicles for Houston Lighting & Power, for the swamps.
