I was in high school and my Dad would drop me off in the morning in the pitch dark - he would point and say "the blind is about 200 years that way" - he would always say "if you can't find it and it starts getting light just sit down with your back to a tree and hunt" -

Then he would tell me "once you get through with your hunt then still hunt back into camp (at least a mile or two) - talk about learning how to hunt! He taught me so much about hunting

Yes sir, the old flat head willis was the Jeep of the day. Most rifles I own have a small spot of blue rubbed of the barrel from carrying them in a rack. Awesome picture

That buck wasn’t mature. I think killing that deer probably was a bad decision. I hope y’all are trying harder with your management today.

Is that hair or ear flaps on the hat?

My grandparents were on a ranch in Lampasas during that time. Spent a lot of good seasons there.

Those old B&W photos are the best. Nobody wore camo except soldiers. Great time & memories with your dad.

The biggest "change" may be the fact that the Jeep is now worth more than it was then.

My Dad wrote a fishing and hunting column for the Taylor paper for years called "Rod and Gun" - I think I posted a few of them here a long time ago - I will try to post a few more -
