I’m curious which one you guys would recommend for my hunt in a couple of weeks. The Sierra is their 140 BTHP Gameking and the Nosler is their 140 BT. This is for my 7-08 AR-308. Interestingly, the point of impact for both is the same, and the accuracy is similar loading them with 43.5 grains of Big Game. The Sierra gives me .2 groups while the Nosler is .3. Wish I could find the projectiles easier.

I would expect either of those to work well on Axis deer. I have killed more deer with the BT but the game king is a fine hunting bullet as well. I doubt any deer could tell the difference between them.

I can't recall if I've ever used a Nosler bullet on anything. The Gameking looks pretty stout too, and I like that there's no soft point to get damaged.

You should be find with either. I know my Sierra manual says those HP are built a little stouter than regular Gamekings. The Ballistic Tip is pretty foolproof at 7-08 speeds.

When I went in an axis hunt they told me the Axis was not even as tough as whitetail. I figure you’ll be good to go with either bullet.

Axis are slightly bigger than whitetail. Either bullet is fine. Gamekings are my favorite hunting bullet.

Just know an axis has a lot more will to live than a wt.

Somewhere Im sure they are folks who have killed elk with both of those bullets. They are sam weight same caliber both cup and core I doubt there will be much difference between the two. I have shot several deer with 140 grain .277 cal NBT's with good results. Pick which one you like best and go with it.
I have always been a fan of nosler bullets, most of the game I have killed has been done with either a Partition or a NBT.
It's hell eatin em live

I think I'm going to go with the SGK BTHP just to try something different.

The 150 grain Ballistic tip is my favorite 7x57 bullet. Lots of deer and hogs fell to it and my old Mauser.

I have about 100 of the 150 BT’s, but the couple of loads I tested with H380 were not that good.

I guess every rifle is different, mine shoots them very well over a variety of powders. H414 and any 4350 would be my first choices.

The Sierra performed like a champ today. 1 shot drt on an axis. Never hunted with my 7-08 AR before either. I think this is my new favorite round for hunting. My bullet drop was minimal at the 180 yard shot I took. It didn’t expand quite like a soft point Gameking, but I like the way it held together.

Congratulations. Post a pic when you have a chance. I would've, but we had already started butchering before I thought to. The pan seared backstraps tasted great though. I'm ready for another one.

Did the bullet have a complete pass through, or did you recover it? Based upon the size of an axis, I suspect it exited the building.
Are you going to pull those pistols, or whistle Dixie?
