Last week we were there for Swift Water Rescue training. All around Schlitterbaun were whitetail. In the streets and parking lots eating acorns. Grazing in common areas, grazing in people's yards. Deer only a few feet from cars and people walking and they couldn't care less. Some of the best bow hunting I've ever seen could have been in 1/2 acre lots in New Braunfels.

I whitetail hunt a little bit. I don't get all that excited about it. Mule deer, elk and exotics are more my speed. But I love to rifle shoot, and make some side money doing it.

Pretty much the entire San Antonio area is like that. Bring some corn and they will eat out of your hand. Complete opposite of the deer I grew up around.

Tarrant County College's man made river is too much cowbell and all concrete. There's been several broken bones there. I'm not getting in that.

Lived in NB from 2016-2020. There are tons of deer wandering around, and occasionally axis. Was walking to Wurstfest a few years ago with a crowd of people, and a big 8 point split the group. I could have grabbed him by the antlers as he went by. Have also seen free range blackbuck just north of town. It is an interesting place.

Several years ago, my uncle was getting married. The day before the wedding he and his college buddies went golfing on the north side of San Antonio. I'm no golfer, so I just went for the ride and to drink beer. Deer on the golf course were in the way very frequently.

Tons of them, like that all over in the area.

I was out at a church down town san marcos last week a block south of the college and there were deer tracks chit and an occasional deer all over. I posted a pic a while back of a drainage ditch located on Rittiman Road in San Antonio a few blocks off of IH 35 with deer in a drainage ditch between warehouses eating. They get use to human activity same as most wild critters that development encroaches upon.

Hell, I'm seeing them now literally in yards next to IH35 in New braunfels by the old HEB and even at the north end of town across the highway from Canyon HS.

Old Hud could put you on a damn good buck if you book a hunt with him.....ya just may need to be ready to do some fancy/fast driving in the getaway.

Good lord those are some fantastic deer

I've been around Comal County and Bexar county all my life and that is the biggest native hill country buck I've seen. I've seen some really nice ones around Canyon Lake but that is the top by far.

I've seen deer off Wurzbach around Shavano park that would be close but he has them all beat

had three good years with him. He made it through the last season and then we think he got bolted by some bastage. The first two photos are on both sides of the street, 6 or 7 houses down. I would leave for the lease, pass by him and wonder what I was doing.

I was in a coyote calling contest, struck out on yotes. Got to work next morning had three in front yard of my office high rise in las Colinas.

My sister has um all around her house year round in Poverty Canyon, Austin. But when the rut starts I wouldn't turn my back on any of the mature bucks. It could turn rodeo in a hurry...
