Me and a buddy have a disagreement on the potential age of this deer. He's as big as other deer that I know are 5+ but has an inferior rack. Buddy thinks is just a large 3 year old but I think he's 5 plus with inferior antlers. I know it's hard to tell from one picture with no history but I figured I'd give it a shot. Definitely 5+ IMO
Three year olds don’t have necks like that, especially in early October. Last year the oldest deer on our place had the smallest rack. Was an 8.5yr old buck that probably weighed between 230-250lbs and scored 103.

I think I might take him out and let the quality bucks live to see another season. You never know, I tend to make my shoot decisions on the fly.

If it was a 'steer' and not a 'deer' yeah....I could see 3 years old.
Hard to imagine anyone would even entertain the idea that buck is a 3 year old.
5 year old or better for sure.
