Lots, if not most, of the young people (30-40) I work with take Adderall. They take it as a performance enhancer not because they have ADHD. Most of these people are high flyers and the go-to when you need something done effectively and efficiently. We work in a high risk, high pressure field and a lot of people just see this as normal for the work we do. I do not take any drugs and don't care to. I like to be able zone out from time to time and I've noticed that the ones on Adderall seem to be hyper focused and intense ALL THE TIME. I'm sure this isn't unique to my line of work.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Crazy that doctors would prescribe it for that. Must be the thing when energy drinks aren't enough.

It is meth.
Common signs of an Adderall addiction include:
Needing larger doses to feel the drug’s effects Wanting to cut down on use but not having the ability to do so Taking the drug despite knowledge of the harm it’s causing Not being able to finish work without Adderall Spending a lot of time and money getting, using, and recovering from the drug Being unable to feel alert without the drug Neglecting other activities in favor of using Adderall Suffering withdrawal symptoms when not using Adderall
One shot is all it should take.

100% pharmaceutical grade methamphetamine, uncut by dishonest drug dealers, no fentanyl, legal excuse to use any meth on drug tests.

TexFlip I know several at my last company that can’t perform without it - similar situation as you described. Most of them aren’t any fun to be around, either. I had a few college buddies that couldn’t study for exams without it. I called them “Barry Bonds” all the time, they hated it.

I got "diagnosed" with ADHD back in college. I had difficulties focusing on anything I was reading and comprehension of the materials. The doc that diagnosed sent me down the meds path. I tried a few that did absolutely nothing for me...then came the Adderall. That stuff was interesting, to say the lease. I used pretty low doses of it for the better part of a year.
Although it was extremely effective at helping one focus, I wasn't a fan of the way it made me feel. I would get some hardcore tunnel vision. When sitting down to study, it was like the world around me stopped...literally. And it would take a LOT to get me out of that state while studying. If someone disturbed me, there was some crazy rage that would come out of me. I can't describe it, honestly. I got to the point of only taking it when absolutely no one was around and I needed a solid 4-6 hours of studying. I slowly started to teach myself to get by without it and haven't had the slightest desire to even want to try it again. That's some weird stuff.

The number of folks going into rehab with Adderall addiction is on the rise. The number of folks going into rehab for prescription drugs is on par with those going in for illegal drugs. I went through this crap with my daughter and the VA, they just kept piling the pills on her until she was ready to take her own life, like so many Vet's do. The young Marine next door was on 13 different med's when he took his own life. With all the online doctors and pharmacy's it's easy for a person to get multiple prescriptions.

What you're describing is pretty common I'm sad to say, the pressures and demands of school has put a bunch of good young kid's in rehab.

HWY_MAN, I agree. I had some friends that it was starting to control their life and they were popping them like skittles. I would max myself to 1 a day if any at all.

I hear kids in college misuse it. Unfortunately, they do. I have to deal with some of these students and try to get them to seek help...

Crazy that doctors would prescribe it for that. Yes doctors prescribe it. People get the prescription from their family doctor by answering a few questions. If not then it's not difficult to find a doc that will write one. If you have insurance then the drug is covered as well. This is a very good documentary on the subject. Similar to a story above as an adult a Dr prescribed adderall to me. He said if I did not like the way it made me feel to take half a pill. So i started with half a pill. It does make you focus. So I’m sitting at my desk Uber focused and someone sends me a funny break.com video (think 15 years ago) and I come to 3 hours later at the end of the internet. I took them maybe dozen times and was out. They effected my sleep and my appetite. (2 of my top 5) I’m out in that.
IMHO it’s self discipline that people (including myself) lack.

Adderall is legal Speed/Coke.
thats all it is.
Doing a couple key bumps in the truck is frowned upon, but popping 10 mg before little Timmy's game is acceptable in 2021
