missed him bigger than Dallas....which i'm ok with. I would have been sick had i wounded him....he was long gone before the arrow got close though.

Hopefully I'll get another crack at him this week or next....Time is getting short and I won't have an opportunity to hunt this property after the 1st week of November, but I think that will give me enough time to get it done.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Good deal. I've never been lucky enough to get a clean miss. Good luck on your second chance.

Nice job! I don't know why I always wait to shoot a doe, I think there might be a big buck coming and hate to make noise maybe. That is a good pic that makes me want to go get er' done.

Thanks. It was the first deer/buck on my new place and that buck was the first buck I ever saw on the place in early June this year. I think he is the oldest buck on the place.

That didn't take long. He looks like one of the bucks in velvet from an earlier post of yours, right? Nice buck, congrats!

Sometimes I wonder if "Obie Juan Kenobi" uses the force to control his deer. Or perhaps gets to get out there with them enough through the year to know them.

Gonna go back and try and stick the 10 with my recurve sometime this week if time allows.

That’s a beautiful buck.
I can’t stand looking at those pen raised deer with 40 pts on each side, But some people do and power to them.

Yes, I had seen him most of the summer on cams and in person when I sat in the blinds in late summer.

Well I do use a roadfeeder all the time, even in the summer time. But having a timed protein feeder and corn feeder in the same pen helps to keep those Hill Country deer on a schedule.

I could not hunt Saturday morning due to a really wet road into my place. I have a great neighbor who offered to drive me in Kawasaki to get my Ranger to hunt from. He let me keep it at his hunters camp. Bad winds on Saturday PM and Sunday AM and I hunted another blind and passed on a really nice 5yr old 8pt that was probably just a little smaller than this buck, score wise. I am letting him go till next year, if he makes it that is great..if the neighbors get them that is great also. Finally Sunday PM the winds went more NE and that allowed me to hunt the blind he was a regular at all summer. He was the last buck out of 14 or 15 that came in that afternoon. I was in the blind about an hour I guess. I knew I would see the buck, my problem was going to be all those eyes and ears on the other 25-30 deer that were in and out of my shooting window that evening.

Thanks and yes I am and loving it. Gonna wait till late Oct or the rut in mid Nov to see if anything new and larger moves in. If not I have some older bucks that are 5, 6 and 7 pt deer that need to go. There are about 7 of those bucks right now. 2 more older smaller racked 8pts that are mature now and could be on the list late season. Does are next on the list over the next 3 weeks, 3 tags will be filled in archery season if I can.
